There's a lot of repetitive over-explaining from the guard's perspective in "Yours: A Dark Captive Romance" by Julie Mannino; it could have really benefited from some trimming. Plus, there are typos and forgotten words scattered throughout the book. Just an honest book review.

Picking up right where the first book left off, the abuse ramps up for our main character in "Yours: A Dark Captive Romance" by Julie Mannino. It's partly to break him down, molding him into a better "pet," but also to prepare him for what's coming. We get a few more glimpses into their world, but honestly, these little snippets just aren't enough. After the first book, I wasn't even sure if the story took place on Earth, so the world-building still leaves a lot to be desired. On the plus side—a...

I'm really on the fence about this one. "Yours: A Dark Captive Romance" by Julie Mannino left a kind of sour taste in my mouth. It technically has a plot, but it also feels like it doesn't? It's messy, raw, and the storytelling feels superficial. It didn't really grab my attention or interest until the very end. I know it's a short story, but Julie Mannino could have built that world so much better with her words.I couldn't really enjoy reading it, even though it showed some potential when Luke ...

Getting a bit more backstory was cool, but I'm still craving more world-building. And honestly? He still comes across as a little too harsh, especially with the whole pee situation in "Yours: A Dark Captive Romance" by Julie Mannino. I'm hoping for more nuance as the series continues. #bookreview #darkromance

* Sexual assault and coercive forcing of other prisoners
* Public sex
* Forced orgasm
* Neck violin, severe restri...

Trigger warnings, but the story really picks up! Jagger and Luke are headed to the prison, and Luke finally witnesses the extent of the guards' cruelty when a prisoner who refused a guard's advances is r@ped. It’s not overly graphic, but it highlights the depravity of some of the guards. Luke, of course, is furious in private. For a moment, I thought Jagger was indifferent, but he explains how their system operates:You're either one of them...or you're not. Jagger can get away with protecting Lu...
