Holy moly, why haven't I read this before? Finally, after almost ten years, I've gotten around to reading the first book in Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass series. Do I regret not starting it sooner? Absolutely! What a killer opening for such a massive work, and what surprises I've had... Alright, let's break it down.Generally speaking, I think Throne of Glass has a great pace. It doesn't get bogged down too much in heavy descriptions, and if it does, it's usually important later on. There's a re...

4.45/5 ⭐Full review on my Blog: The Dacian She-Wolf 🐺I'm an occasional liar. I don't lie often, but when I do, trust me, I could probably scam a lie detector. Don't test me; I can be ruthless. But generally, I prefer brutal honesty. That's just my nature. Today, I could easily lie and say I've wanted to read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas forever, but I'll be honest: I heard about Throne of Glass a couple of months before actually reading it, and it didn't grab me, mostly because of the cover...

"I can survive well enough on my own— if given the proper reading material."
Man oh man, this was a good oneCelaena, an 18-year-old master assassin, spent the last year as a salt-mine slave as punishment for her crimes. She's slowly wasting away but one day, the prince (along with his guard) comes by to lift her from her bondage. The king is in need of a Champion and had devised a convoluted plan to obtain one. All of his trusted advisers submit one criminal to a months-long tournament. The on...

I hateread a chapter from book five of this series with a friend. And I'm going to register my opinion that while it may have slightly improved in character development or worldbuilding or etc etc etc - I wouldn't know - it is, objectively, just as horribly written as this book. And that's the tea.
🌺 montage of me screaming "why is this hyped" for five hours
Let me give *Throne of Glass* one minuscule fragment of credit: the plot isn't horrible. Okay, yeah, the plot is kind of boring a...

DNF 35%So, meet Celaena. Apparently, she’s the world’s best assassin. Or at least, that's what we're told. She’s very, very talented. Super talented, even. And famous, of course. Oh, and she’s also really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, *takes a deep breath* really pretty.
It was true that she had been attractive once, beautifu...

5 BADASS STARS!
First of all, look at this amazing cover. I also liked the first one, but this is a masterpiece. I definitely have a weakness for awesome covers; that's why I decided to read this. Also, a lot of people recommended **Throne of Gl...

It feels like I've been contemplating reading Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas for ages. The reviews and ratings from my Goodreads friends are all over the place, and after finishing this entertaining but disappointingly tame and romance-heavy young adult fantasy, I totally get why. Throne of Glass is basically Shadow and Bone round two. The premise is fantastic for both: packed with hardcore warriors/assassins, royal/noble secrets and scandals, a hint of magic... but each one, while entertainin...

Looks like I'm in the minority again, because I really didn't like *Throne of Glass* by Sarah J. Maas. It's a bummer, too, because I'd heard so many good things about it. Oh well, maybe it's just me... or maybe it's because this book just plain sucks. If you're looking for honest book reviews, keep reading.Let's start with our protagonist, Celaena, the "greatest assassin in the world."Okay, I'm down with that. But it would be nice if she could actually, you know, prove it? Because from what I've...

I'm sorry to say, but it feels like I got excited for absolutely NOTHING. After promising a reading experience akin to Megan Whalen Turner and George R.R. Martin, Sarah J. Maas's *Throne of Glass* ultimately failed to deliver. I was genuinely hyped for this novel for weeks and even enjoyed the sample I read, but now I've been brought crashing back down to earth. This YA fantasy novel is, sadly, a pretty weak example of its genre.
I think a major reason this book didn't resonate with me is the h...

Are you kidding me? What the hell is this? How do you screw up a story this badly after starting with an INCREDIBLE premise about the most notorious assassin in the land – now a slave – being offered the chance to win back her freedom (sort of) in a "to-the-death tournament fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land" [says the back of my book, conveniently forgetting that (a) right before the final duels, the king specifically states that the competitors "can win only by trapping...
