Thief of Night is everything I'd hoped for. It's a strong sequel to Book of Night, maintaining that dark, gritty urban fantasy vibe while delving deeper into the characters and the politics of shadow magic within the city. I highly recommend rereading book one if it's been a while since you last picked it up. I did a reread right before diving into my ARC of the sequel, and that refresher really paid off. After reliving that heartbreaking cliffhanger at the end of Book of Night, the tension and ...

I almost wish I'd gone back and reread the first book in the duology because, after a few years, my memory was a bit hazy. That being said, *Thief of Night* drew me in pretty quickly, and honestly, I don't think it mattered all that much that I was a little fuzzy on the details. I quickly remembered Charlie, a fantastic anti-hero if there ever was one. This book masterfully wove everything together, and while it got emotional at times, it was handled really well. I'd absolutely love to have an e...

Thanks to Netgalley and Tor for the advance copy of *Thief of Night* by Holly Black. Below you'll find my honest review.
I really wish this had been a trilogy instead of a duology, because I absolutely wasn't ready to say goodbye to Charlie Hall and her chaotic crew. I seriously need more of this world, even if it doesn't center on Charlie and Vince/Red and Posey and the rest of them. The magic system, with its shadows and blood, is just fantastic!
Maybe one day Holly Black will revisit this w...

A fantastic conclusion to the *Book of Night* duology. If you read book one a while ago (like, 2-3 years back), I highly recommend a reread before diving into *Thief of Night*. It jumps right back into the story, and if the first book isn't fresh in your mind, you might regret not refreshing your memory to get the best possible reading experience. *Thief of Night* is every bit as good as the first book, if not even better! Especially after *Book of Night*'s cliffhanger ending, *Thief of Night* c...

We have a title!!! Holly Black confirmed during a live event in Jan. 2023 that this book will be called Thief of Night.
She's going to write it AFTER the second book in her Stolen Heir duology, which does not yet have a release date. So we may be waiting for a while 😢. I'm already searching for 'Thief of Night book review' to keep up with updates!

WE HAVE A COVER. THIS IS GETTING REAL
Quite shockingly, I had no idea that *Thief of Night* was a duology. I genuinely thought this was going to be a standalone novel from Holly Black.

Haven't read it yet because *Thief of Night* isn't even out, but who's giving a Holly Black book one star before it's released?! Seriously, fight me. I'm looking forward to writing a proper book review once I've actually read *Thief of Night*!

I don't have a ton to say about *Thief of Night* by Holly Black, as the pacing and writing are very similar to the previous book. That is to say, it starts pretty slow, but once it gets going, it's a real page-turner. As usual, Holly Black absolutely nails her characters and story. Her imagination is just incredible. I also really enjoyed how Charlie and Red's relationship developed. They had fantastic chemistry. 4 stars.

4.25 starsThere's a tiny part of me that thinks *Thief of Night* was a bit lackluster for a finale, but honestly, the love I have for Charlie as a character is so big and vast that I don't even care. There doesn't need to be any fanfare, there doesn't need to be some big shocking and dramatic ending, and besides, the book does end with her SETTING FIRE TO A MANSION so like, it's pretty badass.I just know more casual readers who expect every book to be Fourth Wing are going to have some shit to s...
