Really cute and fun. I liked it, didn’t love it. A solid 3 stars. As a feel-good women's fiction book, Marie Bostwick's *The Troublesome Women's Book Club* is a charming read. It's enjoyable, but didn't quite blow me away. If you're looking for a lighthearted book club read, this fits the bill.

What a lovely story! I love a cast of women who all have different stories but collectively create such an incredible, powerhouse support system for each other. The ending after about 80% lost me a bit, but Marie Bostwick's "The Troublesome Women's Book Club" is definitely one to add to your list! If you're looking for heartwarming book reviews, this one's a great choice.

5 stars!I absolutely adore the Bettys!!"The Troublesome Women's Book Club" by Marie Bostwick tells the story of four women in the 1960s who start a book club that leads them to develop some pretty "radical" views about societal and social norms. Each of these women is at a completely different stage in their lives, facing unique challenges and struggles. But they forge such a strong bond that they're able to encourage and push each other to break free from expectations and achieve goals that mos...

In short, *The Troublesome Women's Book Club* was my book club pick, which maddens me because I feel like I completely wasted my turn. It's frustrating when you pick a book for your book club and it just doesn't deliver. The whole story lacked complexity. I was hoping for a story about troublesome women shaking up their world, causing a ruckus. What I got was a group of women quietly making do. It felt like a missed opportunity for some real drama and character development. The mention of JFK’s a...

It's 1963 in Northern Virginia, and Margaret Ryan, Viv Buschetti, and Bitsy Cobb are housewives in the brand-new suburb of Concordia. When Charlotte Gustafson, a flamboyant artist from Manhattan, moves into the neighborhood, they decide to start a book club and dive into Betty Friedan's new novel, The Troublesome Women's Book Club by Marie Bostwick. The phrase "feminine mystique" was coined by Friedan to describe the widespread assumption that a woman's fulfillment should come solely from housewo...

NOT QUITE WHAT I EXPECTEDWhen a book's titled "The Troublesome Women's Book Club" by Marie Bostwick, I'm expecting two things: a proper book club and some genuinely troublesome women. Honestly, I don't think this book fully delivers on either promise, which was a bit of a letdown. What I enjoyed👍Feminism: I'm a sucker for stories about women finding their feminist fire and demanding what they deserve. 👍1960s setting: The 1960s setting and atmosphere were spot-on. It created a great backdrop for...

My Reviews Can Also Be Found On: The Book Review Crew BlogMarie Bostwick's *The Troublesome Women's Book Club* brings together a group of unhappy women in the 1960s who decide to start a book club. The story unfolds at a deliberate pace, allowing you to become deeply invested in the struggles these women face. I particularly loved Charlotte, the newcomer, who is experiencing some significant setbacks in her life and decides to join the club. It's within this group that these ladies learn to find...

I absolutely loved this audiobook; I started listening and couldn’t stop! It was terrific. Four women living in the Virginia suburbs seem to have it all, yet they feel like something just isn’t right. There's a certain lacking in their lives. So, Charlotte, the new neighbor from Manhattan, will only join Margaret’s book club if they read *The Troublesome Women's Book Club* by Marie Bostwick. Two other friends, Viv and Betsy, join too. Times are changing, and the book affects each woman different...

This story had such an impact on me I started reading Virginia Woolf.Set in Virginia during the early '60s, *The Troublesome Women's Book Club* tells the story of four women who start a book club. They choose a feminist book, *The Feminine Mystique*, which ends up changing their lives forever. Through their discussions, they realize they aren’t alone in feeling unfulfilled, even as married women with children. They crave independence, something that's just for them, but feel guilty for wanting m...

What must it feel like to be like that, a woman who wasn’t afraid to make demands or stir up trouble? I really wish I could say I liked this book more than I did. The premise is great-- a perfect antidote to tradwife nonsense --but the story itself is inconsistent, both in terms of pacing and characterization. The Troublesome Women's Book Club is set in 1963, shortly after the publication of The Feminine Mystique. A group of suburban housewives in Virginia start a book club and their first pic...
