This reads like a simplified, amateurish children's version of the story of Alaric and Aetius, which wasn't at all what I was expecting from Tamuna Tsertsvadze's *Barbarian: A Novel of the Visigoths*. I finished it in under half an hour. Honestly, it's closer to a two-and-a-half-star read. If you're looking for historical fiction, this might be too basic. For a quick read, it's okay, but don't expect depth.
