The concept here is genuinely clever, but the execution falls incredibly short. "The Shadow Lurker" by Chriselda Barretto had the potential to be a gripping thriller, but sadly, it misses the mark. As far as suspense book reviews go, this one's disappointing.

This was a real departure from the kinds of books I usually read and review. It's a uniquely told story, written entirely in verse. The story centers on a monster called The Creep. Only one person can save the world from this creature, and that's a young boy. I appreciated the consistent pattern in the poems; it made the reading experience quite soothing. There's a lovely rhythm to it all. Even though it's poetry, it often feels incredibly grounded and real. The Shadow Lurker by Chriselda Barr...

Chriselda Barretto's *The Shadow Lurker* presents an intriguing and original take on the epic poem, featuring a terrifying monster that Barretto calls the “Creep.” Reminiscent of the Greek monster Medusa, this creature invades people's dreams. It has no name, simply existing as a creepy demon destined to be banished back to its diabolical origin by a certain little boy. This poetry book, uniquely categorized as a thriller on Amazon, shares similarities with classics like The Odyssey and The Ilia...

Narrative poetry in the thriller genre? I'll be honest, I didn’t know *what* to expect. But I’m always up for exploring literary paths I haven’t tried before. I’m a horror fan – movies and books, though I tend to prefer the classics. And I have to say, I thought Chriselda Barretto's *The Shadow Lurker* was pretty exceptional. With something so unfamiliar, it's hard to immediately put your finger on why it works, so it took me a while to collect my thoughts. But after letting it sit, and with cert...

Thriller fans seeking something truly unique should absolutely delve into 'The Shadow Lurker' by Chriselda Barretto. It's a complete narrative, masterfully woven through poetry, lending it an ethereal quality and an almost sinister rhythm that's utterly captivating and will pull you directly into its shadows. The poems unfold like chapters, each telling unsettling, disturbing, and at times, gruesome tales of individuals haunted by 'The Shadow Lurker,' a malevolent entity invading the lives of un...

This is a really unique piece – it tells a story, but it's actually a narrative poem. It's broken up into chapters and mostly follows a rhyme pattern, though not always. There are definitely points where Chriselda Barretto uses some creative slant rhyming, which I thought was cool. The poem kicks off by describing this ominous "creep," and it builds from there in each chapter. While each chapter could almost stand alone, they all tie into the general theme surrounding the creep and how it affect...

Chriselda Barretto's *The Shadow Lurker* is truly one-of-a-kind – a narrative poetry collection venturing into thriller territory, making it delightfully hard to categorize. Barretto's poems explore the darkest aspects of existence and the most sinister events with an almost melancholic touch. She channels a bit of Edgar Allan Poe, crafting verses that are both gruesome and subtly unsettling. A recurring theme emerges: terrible things befalling ordinary individuals, evident in poems like 'The Se...
