Captivating, rich, and absorbing!"The Lost Letters of Aisling" is predominantly set in Ireland during the early 1950s, as well as the present day, and is told from two different perspectives. We follow Rainey, a young woman who journeys to Ireland to honor her grandmother’s wishes to return to her homeland and finally confront the past, and Evie, a young woman whose platonic love for her best friend will ultimately change her destiny and life forever.Cynthia Ellingsen's prose is eloquent and exp...

Kindle First Read for March 2024I'm a fan of historical fiction, and I enjoy novels that weave between the present day and the past. I thought the balance between the two timelines in "The Lost Letters of Aisling" by Cynthia Ellingsen was well-managed, and the way the chapters connected was effective. So far, so good.I enjoyed the story (no spoilers!), and I learned more than I knew about Ireland during WWII (which they called "The Emergency"). The descriptions are enticing, making a strong case...

Good, but...
I just never really clicked with it. The plot was interesting, but a couple of the twists felt off. The younger version of the grandmother always came across as overly naive and easily fooled, which I found irritating. If you're looking for a new historical fiction read, Cynthia Ellingsen's *The Lost Letters of Aisling* might be worth checking out, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Cynthia Ellingsen's historical fiction, "The Lost Letters of Aisling," offers a surprisingly fresh perspective. The narrative unfolds on the very day World War II concludes, interwoven with a contemporary storyline. The book emphasizes gratitude and cherishing what truly matters. A great read for fans of historical fiction and dual timeline narratives. If you're looking for moving book reviews, put "The Lost Letters of Aisling" on your list.

I truly enjoyed this story. Ireland holds a special place in my heart (which, frankly, is why I picked up The Lost Letters of Aisling). Not sure if this counts as a spoiler, so you might want to stop reading here. I'll admit, I figured out the ending's plot twist, but I wasn't thrilled with how abruptly the book concluded. Unless Cynthia Ellingsen is planning more to the story, it really needed an epilogue because the ending left so many of the characters' stories unresolved and just… hanging. As...

Cynthia Ellingsen's *The Lost Letters of Aisling* unfolds across two timelines, weaving together the stories of a grandmother and her granddaughter. The grandmother's final wish is to return to her native Ireland, accompanied by her granddaughter.Once there, the granddaughter discovers that her grandmother has been harboring long-held secrets about her past. The book is filled with a compelling mystery that had me turning pages as quickly as possible, though be warned, it's also filled with hear...

I absolutely loved this book. With the seemingly endless stream of stories about World War II, it's genuinely intriguing to learn about the lasting after-effects of the war on a neutral country like Ireland. It really makes you think about how choices people made during that time can ripple through the lives of their families for generations. I honestly never realized the extent of the hardships caused by shortages and tangled loyalties that impacted Ireland after the war, which ultimately fuele...
