Jason has a major problem: he can't remember anything before waking up on a field trip bus. He's told he has a girlfriend, Piper, and a best friend, Leo, both fellow students at the Wilderness School for "bad kids." But what did Jason do to end up here, and where *is* here? All Jason knows is that s...

(B+) 79% | GoodNotes: It's a bit slow to get going, but once it bails from Quebec, it really kicks into gear. Though Jason here remains as dull as heck.*Check out progress updates for detailed commentary: Progress updates:10/17/2022 - Preamble(1) After a brief respite, I'm back on my Rick Riordan audiobook journey.- The ultimate goal of which is to sufficiently refresh my memory prior to reading "The Trials of Apollo," for maximum Easter eggs and reference awareness.(2) With this new series come...

“Flying shoes, slightly used, 50% off today!”“Her Majesty, the Loose Cannon.”Even though *The Heroes of Olympus* series technically belongs in the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles, I wasn't really expecting the *Percy Jackson* crew to show up much. So, I was stoked to see Annabeth and Chiron right at the beginning of *The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus, Book 1)* by Rick Riordan. The bummer was, I kept waiting for the old gang to jump in instead of paying attention to Jason's story. Still, the plot grabb...

”Cute, smart, and violent. Jason wished he remembered having her as a girlfriend.”Me too! A girlfriend like that sounds kinda awesome, and Piper is as cool as they come! XD As are the two new boys in this series! I loved Jason Grace because he’s very sweet and a total badass hero, and I adored Leo Valdez because... well, because he’s Leo! *lol* That boy is damn funny but also so very skilled, and if you ask me, even more badass than Jason, which says quite something! Of all those newly introduce...

Notes: It treats memory as the primordial stew of personality: a precious, bubbling cistern of affection, anguish, and intrigue. Just like in *The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus, Book 1)* by Rick Riordan, memory is everything. It's the bedrock upon which our understanding of ourselves and the world around us is built. This book understands that, making it a truly good read. If you're looking for a solid fantasy book review, look no further.

THE ENDING. OMFG. Seriously.
For fans looking for exciting young adult fantasy books, Rick Riordan delivers. *The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus, Book 1)* is an absolute rollercoaster. The plot twists had me screaming! The last few chapters? I was literally on the edge of my seat. 2021 EDIT: Before you jump in the comments, please keep in mind I wrote this back in 2010. I was 13, convinced I was super sassy and witty. Honestly, re-reading it now makes *me* cringe, but that doesn't mean I need a flood of negative comments telling me I suck or I'm annoying. I've been internalizing that feedback for a decade now, trust me. Okay, here we go:Probably SPOILER ALERT, but seriously, you could figure this stuff out in the first few pages.Goodreads says 97% of people liked it. Well...

EDIT: So, uh, I was kind of maybe extremely delirious when I originally wrote this, but I find it kind of awkward entertaining, and since so many people have liked it, I guess I'll leave it up? >>'THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS! If you were lame enough to click the "show" button even though the Goodreads thing automatically says spoilers (um, no offense), STOP READING THIS REVIEW RIGHT NOW.Well.
