Chapter One: I Accidentally Vaporize the Person who Tried to Take this Book Away from MeLook, I didn't *want* to be obsessed. If you're reading this because you think you're only going to read *The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1)* once, my advice is: close this book right now. Seriously. Believe whatever lie your mom or dad told you about binge-reading, and try to be a normal person.Being obsessed with *The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1)* is dangero...

(A-) 82% | Very Good
Notes: It’s pure sugar and caffeine: a sweet pop song of a novel, driven forward by perfectly rhyming couplets of world-building and dangerous showdowns. If you're looking for exciting young adult fantasy books, Rick Riordan's *The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1)* delivers!

Alright, maybe you all have a point. I'm starting to see the hype around Rick Riordan's *The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1)*. It's definitely one of those young adult fantasy books that sucks you right in. I went in expecting a typical children's book, but this is so much more. I can totally understand why there's such a buzz in the book review community about *The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1)*. I'm officially intrigued.

A+ Writing A+ Plot A+ Characters A+ MONSTERS I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I wish I hadn't watched the movie before reading it, because I felt like that ruined a bit of enjoyment of "The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1)" for me, but for the most part I had such a fun time reading this book by Rick Riordan, and I'm looking forward to continuing on with the series. Definitely a top pick for fantasy book reviews! july 2024 update - forgot i re-read this in july lolol - sti...

Were you a bit of an oddball in school? Or maybe you're still in school and feel like you don't quite fit in? I mean, everyone's weird in their own way, but you know what I mean. Maybe you never quite belonged, maybe people thought you were a bit of a loser. Perhaps you had learning difficulties, were a target for bullies, constantly got into trouble, or maybe it just seemed like your teachers were always on your back. Maybe reading was a struggle, and you were even diagnosed with dyslexia or AD...

Okay, I'm a little embarrassed to admit I saw the movie before reading The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1). But I'm even MORE embarrassed that I watched it initially just because Logan Lerman is, like, ridiculously hot. Seriously though, tell me *this* isn't hot:Right? I knew it. (I'm guessing half of you probably won't even read the rest of this and will just stare at that gif, but hey, that's no reason to not like my review! :D)But seriously, I owe Logan one. Big time. B...

About halfway through *The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & The Olympians Book 1)*, I started making a list of its similarities to Harry Potter. Here's a taste of what I came up with: 1. You've got your trio of young heroes: the brainy girl (Annabeth/Hermione), the funny screw-up type (Grover/Ron), and the somewhat troubled but ultimately brave lead (Harry/Percy). 2. People lose their minds when the Harry/Percy character utters the name of a powerful figure. 3. The big bad (Kronos/Voldemor...

\n Chiron looked surprised. “I thought that would be obvious enough. The entrance to the Underworld is in Los Angeles.”\nAs someone who has worked in Los Angeles, I can tell you that this is completely accurate.\nWhile Harry Potter was spending his summers at the Dursleys, Percy Jackson attended Camp Half-Blood. This book has done the impossible: it has redeemed the name of Percy.\nYes, that's right, that snot-faced, lily-livered waste of air of the very same name from the Harry Potter universe...
