Beth's life was ordinary until a strange ad in the paper changed everything. Now, two people are pulling her in opposite directions: one offering a twisted escape, the other, a terrifying ultimatum. DNF. I just couldn't connect with Katherine Black's writing style in "The Leverage Game", and the pacing was way too slow for me. It took four pages to explain something that honestly only needed one. I'm a little curious about what happens, so I might pick it up again and skim through it later, but I really prefer a book to grab my attention right from the start, and this one just didn't do it. Looking for a fast-paced read? This might not be it. Check out other book reviews to find your next g...

3.5 starsWow. Katherine Black's *The Leverage Game* really took me on a rollercoaster, both in good and bad ways. My review is probably going to be a bit all over the place too.Firstly, this was the most disturbing, graphically violent book I think I've ever read. I usually steer clear of books this intense. For the first few chapters, I genuinely felt nauseous. It settled down for most of the book, but came back with a vengeance at the end. Despite my discomfort, the story completely gripped me...

DNF. This book is seriously messed up. I made it to 25% and realized I don’t read to feel utterly terrorized. If you're looking for a dark read, Katherine Black's "The Leverage Game" might be for you, but it definitely wasn't for me. Consider this a book review and a warning!

Katherine Black's "The Leverage Game" grabs you from page one! It kicks off with a serious jolt and the action just keeps coming, full throttle, right up to the very last page. Let's get the technical bits out of the way first: The book's written in the third person, mostly from Beth's perspective, but we occasionally jump into another character's head when the story demands it. The chapters are pretty long, but honestly, they're so gripping that you barely notice the time flying by. The writin...

This is the third book I've read by Katherine Black. I highly anticipate each new release because Katherine Black is so unpredictable, and I expected nothing less this time around – and that’s the truth! Unpredictable in key spots, and definitely no fluffy, happy stuff, but a good read nonetheless. If you're looking for twisty women's fiction, Katherine Black's *The Leverage Game* is a solid choice.

Oh my word, this book is one hell of a page-turner. Beth is an independent woman with her own home and a good job. But her best pal, Maggie, reckons she needs a man in her life. She drags the reluctant Beth along to a speed dating evening. A date is made with an attractive young man who rapidly turns out to be just about as despicable as they come. Too late, because before Beth fully realises the danger she is in, he is standing right between her and escape. Things get as graphic as they become ...

One seriously talented author! This is one of those books you devour in a single day, and that says everything about Katherine Black's writing chops. From page one, the story grabs you with its non-stop action. The deceit, the lies, the manipulation, the blackmail – it all ratchets up with every chapter, keeping you on the edge of your seat. The characters are fantastic, the descriptions are vivid enough to fire up your imagination, and the plot? Forget about it – twists and turns right up to the...

Okay, wow. *The Leverage Game* starts with such a brutal scene that, honestly, I almost put it down. But the main character, Beth, just grabbed me. I *had* to know how she was going to get through everything... only to find that her life gets so tangled, you can't even guess what's coming next. The characters are realistically messed up. I started reading Katherine Black's *The Leverage Game* in the morning and couldn't stop all day. Every twist and turn just creeped me out and pulled me deeper...
