The beginning was tedious, and I thought I wouldn't make it through.
Well, it ended up being the best book of 2024. "The Green Mile" by Stephen King is a must-read; consider this your next great book review.

The Green Mile. A heartbreaking story about a man who worked as a prison guard. One day, a new prisoner arrives on the block – a large and sensitive man. He insists he was only trying to help, and the protagonist becomes obsessed with proving his innocence. The book also weaves in scenes from his future in a nursing home, and those passages are devastatingly sad. This desperately intelligent novel deals with injustice and nostalgia. I feel like I'm still on the block with them, and I don't kno...

One of Stephen King's best works! This book could easily become anyone's best read of the year.Stephen King's writing talent is simply incredible. Every part, every scene, every sentence—everything is spectacular in this book. *Misery* will always be my favorite by this great American author because of its cruelty and unexpected twists. However, *The Green Mile* has come into my life to steal a piece of my soul and settle directly into my heart. It's very, very likely that if I had read *The Gre...

I can now say, not just to myself, but to every Stephen King fan out there, that The Green Mile genuinely gave me noticeable palpitations and, for a moment or two, made me feel quite faint. I've seen the 'The Green Mile' movie adaptation starring Tom Hanks, and while that was also amazing and keeps you on the edge of your seat, it honestly doesn't compare to the book. The Green Mile is right up there on my list of "King mind-fucks," alongside books like The Shining and Pet Sematary. Cujo is jus...

Racism, capital punishment, and healing magic: a trifecta made in the shadow of death row.A touch of white magicJust a dash, maybe a few percent, added to the most crucial ingredient – characterization – and everything flows so much smoother. That’s a Stephen King trademark: he rarely goes the epic, high fantasy route with loads of big, badass superpowers in a rock-paper-scissors dynamic. Instead, he uses just a touch of 'Shining,' a bit of psi power, or some special medical skills, adding a lit...

One of Stephen King’s best, right up there with *The Shining* and *The Stand*. If you're looking for a gripping read, this is it. A true masterpiece for fans of suspenseful book reviews. King is a master of horror because he's so good at pulling us into the story. He lures you in with believable characters and details that create real empathy and understanding. Think about Francis Ford Coppola’s *The Godfather Part II*. Remember the scene where young Vito Corleone (played by Robert De Niro) sh...

Deserves more than 5 stars Stephen King's *The Green Mile* deserves more than a mere 5-star rating. This isn't just a book; it's an experience. A deeply moving, thought-provoking, and emotionally resonant journey that stays with you long after you've turned the final page. King masterfully weaves a tale of humanity, injustice, and the power of hope amidst the bleakest of circumstances. If you're looking for a powerful book review to sway you, look no further. *The Green Mile* is a must-read.

The Green Mile... a nickname earned from the color of the floor in the grim Cold Mountain Penitentiary (somewhere in the American South). E Block, death row under a different name, during the bleak year of 1932. The inmates take the long, long walk – their last – to see Old Sparky, the electric chair that will end the lives of these wretched, convicted killers. Nevertheless, the unique green surface is the last thing the nervous residents are thinking about in their humble cells, peering through...

Okay, so I cheated on my usual library last week. I don't think it's noticed yet, and honestly, I feel a bit guilty. I stumbled upon a smaller library that's actually way closer to my place. It caught my eye, but I never bothered because I figured the selection would be tiny, and my current library and I have a good thing going on. But now I'm juggling two libraries, and life's good! I picked up "The Green Mile" by Stephen King at this new library when nothing else really grabbed me. I mean,...

"We each owe a death, there are no exceptions, I know that, but sometimes, oh God, The Green Mile is so long.”Stephen King can write. Capital-W Write. He has that trademark way about him that keeps me up half the night — whether I'm 16 or 38 — just so I can finish his story, sleep be damned. It’s that strange, spellbinding storytelling magic he’s so damn good at. And this is King at his best, right up there with "Shawshank" and "The Body". The Green Mile is a quieter King, the one who understan...
