I honestly preferred the Thomas Mayne Reid version more 🙈. If you are looking for a fresh take on a classic, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Graphic Novel Edition by Bo Hampton offers a unique visual experience, but for me, it didn't quite capture the same magic as the original stories.

It’s the perfect graphic novel adaptation to revisit this classic tale, blending nostalgic atmosphere with stunning visuals that truly bring the headless horseman to life. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Graphic Novel Edition by Bo Hampton is a delightfully tongue-in-cheek take on the classic folktale that perfectly captures those quintessential New England spooky vibes. If your only exposure to the story is the Tim Burton film or a fuzzy childhood memory of the 1949 adaptation, you might be surprised to discover that Ichabod Crane is far from a hero. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this graphic novel adaptation, and it was a joy to see how well it honors the spirit of ...

I absolutely love this classic tale! I have fond memories of the story of the Headless Horseman from my younger years, so when I saw a friend on Goodreads reading The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Graphic Novel Edition by Bo Hampton, I knew I had to check it out. It was a fun read, though I have to admit I found some of the artwork a bit funky—I generally tend to prefer more realistic illustrations. Then again, how realistic can you really make a hideous monster? Perhaps I’m just being a bit too pick...

A gorgeously illustrated adaptation of Washington Irving's classic tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Graphic Novel Edition is a visual treat. Bo Hampton’s atmospheric artwork perfectly captures both the comic whimsy and the gloomy terror found in Irving's original prose. It is remarkable how this story has inspired artists of all stripes—writers, animators, illustrators, and filmmakers—for two centuries to "dream dreams, and see apparitions." This graphic novel is a fantastic read and takes a w...

Every aspect of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Graphic Novel Edition is complex: the plot is intricate, the language is sophisticated, and the narration is incredibly detailed. Bo Hampton has done a fantastic job of keeping the story concise while using that rich detail to truly spark the reader's imagination. This is a must-read for anyone looking for a fresh take on a classic horror story.
I’m sharing a passage below that really stood out to me:

This is the perfect scary story! I absolutely love the classic line: '...and he would have passed a pleasant life of it, in despite of the Devil and all his works, if his path had not been crossed by a being that causes more perplexity to mortal man than ghosts, goblins, and the whole race of witches put together, and that was—a woman.' Poor Ichabod Crane! If you are looking for a must-read graphic novel adaptation, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Graphic Novel Edition by Bo Hampton is a hauntingly...

This creative and magical graphic novel adaptation tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a struggling schoolteacher scraping by on just 10 dollars a day. Set against the backdrop of the American Revolution near Tarrytown, New York, the plot follows Ichabod as he boards at a student's home, doing little to help out. He finds himself smitten with the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, the wealthy daughter of a Dutch farmer. One night, while attending a dinner party at her mansion, the guests trade chilling...
