Until I can brain properly and give you all actual words about how I feel, here's a series of GIFs that sum up my experience. (Also be aware, percentages may vary from the actual book since I listened to it, hehe!)0-30%- /insert dragons, portals, magic systems, modern day things like public transport and USB sticks, noblemen, courts, creatures, cathedrals, estates, rulers, sigils, summoning circles, computers, and Starbucks...I'm not gonna lie, I was completely confused about where this was set ...

I honestly don't know how to rate this one yet, but I had a blast reading it!
Edit: Okay, I've landed on three stars, but I'm definitely planning to keep going with The Last Sun series by K.D. Edwards. Looking forward to more urban fantasy adventures!

In *The Last Sun*, K.D. Edwards follows Rune, employed by Lord Tower, and his bodyguard, Brand, as they're hired to track down Addam, the missing son of Lady Justice, in a fantastical island city called New Atlantis. I generally liked this book and found it enjoyable. My favorite characters were Matthias/Max, Elena/Lady Lover’s grandson who they accidentally adopt, and Quinn, Addam’s prophet younger sibling. The banter between Rune and Brand is great, and the dialogue is consistently strong. Run...

You know those audiobooks you can half-listen to while doing the dishes and still follow along? Yeah, *The Last Sun* by K.D. Edwards is not one of those books. *The Last Sun* is a wildly adventurous ride with a breakneck pace. It’s packed with gnarly creatures, villainy, duplicitous characters, and a handful of heroes. It's light on the romance, though there is one… maybe two (fingers crossed!) brewing. In short, it’s a blast, and Josh Hurley's narration is pitch-perfect. He captures the snar...

2021 reread:Just as much fun as the first time around! I'm still having a blast coming up with wild theories. The Tower is up to *something*, I can feel it. LOL. Addam and Rune, knowing where they'll go in the next book and hopefully afterwards, are adorableness personified. And Brand is still the best. :D But please, lord, no Brand/Rune. It would make zero sense and completely ruin that aspect of the books.Original review: K.D. Edwards is a new author to me, and the narrator was also new to me,...

I adore this story. So much so, I've listened to it twice. The narrator was absolutely perfect for this book, in my opinion. He totally got the humor, and his timing was spot on. I seriously can't wait for the next book in the series!

I love K.D. Edwards' *The Last Sun* more and more with every listen. It's one of my favorite fantasy book series!

~4.5 stars!~SO much to love about this book!1. The banter – Rune and Brand, as best friends, as Companions, were my favorite part of "The Last Sun" by K.D. Edwards. The dialogue is pure gold! "It's a cock ring," Brand told Matthias."Godsdammit," I said. "It's a sigil. I have a Shatter spell in it. Do you know how few scions can pull off Shatter?""His magic cock ring," Brand said. I adored seeing such a strong bond between best friends and having it not interfere when the romance with A...

It took me a little while and a bit of a leap of faith to get into it, but I'm really glad I gave *The Last Sun* a shot. The urban fantasy/alternate history/fantasy kitchen sink setting was a bit much at first, and there's no big info dump to get you ready. The characters don't spell everything out with "as you know" speeches either. It's a cool way to tell the story, but it can be a little confusing in the first few chapters. This isn't mainly a gay romance, but it does have some romantic stu...

I stumbled upon this book completely by chance. I was at the library (support your local library!) browsing the 'New Books' section, and, as usual, grabbing way too many books when I already had a huge pile waiting for me at home. I always check out the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section, but rarely does anything new grab my attention. I saw *The Last Sun*, noticed it was the first in a series, and that it wasn't some massive epic. So, I thought, since I'm usually years, if not decades, behind on what's cur...

I've been sitting on this review for over a month, rewriting and tweaking, finally realizing that words just can't capture how much I adore this story and its characters. A hundred muppet-flail GIFs would be closer, but I'm trying to maintain some semblance of professionalism here. That pretty much sums up my experience reading this book—every cell in my body flailing in worship. Because *The Last Sun* shines like a supernova. It's bursting with life, love, and wonder, a testament to the best th...
