Just...incredibly poorly written. The author loved the words "stuff" and "whatever" way, way too much. And the eating disorder was depicted in graphic detail (including, spoiler alert, Rainer’s sister killing herself through bulimia when she’s a teenager, and we get the GRAPHIC detail of that), but it wasn’t handled with any care at all. It read like a teenager's first Wattpad story about "real issues" without any of the finesse such topics require. If you're looking for well-written LGBTQ+ fict...

So, \"The Kitten and His Prince\" by Julie Mannino was... cute. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect going in, but it definitely wasn't *this*. It's kind of... I hesitate to say BDSM-heavy because I might be using the wrong term, but the roleplay elements are definitely... well, outside my usual comfort zone. Even so, I still enjoyed reading it, even after I realized it wasn't what I initially thought it would be.\n\nBasically, it's about a male stripper/prostitute. Actually, I'm not even sure ...

A Truly Unique Love StoryHaving read a few other books by Julie Mannino, I can confidently say that this M/M fantasy romance, *The Kitten and His Prince*, is one of her absolute best. That being said, I did find myself skipping ahead in certain sections before diving back in.If you're easily bothered by explicit sex scenes, then *The Kitten and His Prince* might not be for you—it even made *me* blush a little, lol.Julie Mannino puts her characters, especially Prince Rainier, through the wringer,...

Absolutely beautiful 🥺 This was a beautiful couple that worked so well together and was well fleshed out on their own too. All of the characters felt so real, and the cousin Natalie was amazing. It really showed how unhealthy habits/thinking can affect a whole family in all different ways. The kitten and praise kink was HOT, and honestly, there's not enough mm kitten kink books featuring *The Kitten and His Prince* by Julie Mannino out there. We need more kitten play books!Besides the hurt/com...

DNF—I read about 20%, fueled by morbid curiosity for roughly 18% of that. I won't kink-shame, but:-I didn't realize the "kitten" aspect was *this* literal.-The dystopian pet play, set in a grand universe with so much lore, was a lot to process while some merchant was telling a dude all of them had dick piercings.-The buying process, where they tried to compete to be bought, felt... weird. And I've read Omega Auction and Winner's Curse and stuff. Don't know why I didn't like it here.-Describing t...

Oof. Right in the feels. Seriously. The queen was scarily relatable to...certain people I've known. If you have a good mom and think the queen is too much or unrealistic, be thankful you can't relate. That's all I'm saying on that. The author's note was entirely right.Rainier and Felix's growing relationship had me glued to my phone. All the snuggles, the praise, the kittenplay. When Rainier saved Felix in the beginning, I fell hard for him. 💞💞Besides the obvious steaminess, I think one of my ...

What an interesting book tackling lots of serious issues. And I really loved it.
The smut was so, so hot and just well-written. I normally don't seek out pet kink books, but this one was totally my thing. There was lots of talking about consent, about learning to trust (with some abuse on page, not between the main characters!), and lots of cuddles.
The eating disorder was handled realistically and doesn't magically disappear just because of "love." The caretaking (between both main characters...

This book really opened my eyes to a lot regarding eating disorders. I felt like Julie Mannino handled the topic with care and understanding (which, understandably, she would). The two main characters were a match made in heaven, and I absolutely loved watching their relationship develop. It was so sweet and provided a nice balance to the heavier stuff Rainier was dealing with. Also, Inky definitely made things a little better because...well...cats just make everything better, don't they? And the c...
