I'm trying not to cry at my desk right now because, oh my god, this book, **The Keeper of Happy Endings** by Barbara Davis, is absolutely gorgeous. Seriously need a minute to pull myself together. Review to come! If you're looking for emotional book reviews, start with this one.

I'm only on page 31, and I'm already struggling to believe that a 23-year-old has sold a collection of work through an interior designer, including a commissioned piece for a trendy restaurant, and now she's opening an art gallery? And she's working on her MFA? It's completely unbelievable. Oh, and did I mention that her fiancé is a doctor who gave up private practice to work at Doctors Without Borders a year ago? So, let's break this down: he left for South Sudan when she was 22. They're alread...

This was my first book by Barbara Davis, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I can definitely see why she's so popular. The story unfolds across two timelines. The first follows Soline, living in Paris during World War II. She falls in love with an American soldier who urges her to seek safety in America with his family, promising to join her as soon as he can. The second story centers on Rory in 1985. Her fiancé has been taken hostage overseas, and she's uncertain if she'll ever see him again. Circumst...

In a Nutshell: An interesting premise with pretty good execution. I loved the story, but the extremely slow beginning and the extremely contrived ending diminished my enjoyment somewhat. Story:Soline Roussel comes from a long line of bridal dressmakers, rumored to possess a magic touch that ensures a happy ending for any bride wearing a Roussel gown. However, after a devastating personal loss during WWII, Soline is forced to flee to the United States. There, she faces even more heartbreak and is...

If you'd asked me halfway through, I'd have said "The Keeper of Happy Endings" by Barbara Davis was on track for a solid five-star review… but then, it just went completely off the rails. A string of absolutely ridiculous, unbelievable events totally ruined it for me. As far as book reviews go, this one is going to be a bit harsh, I'm afraid.

A lovely book that's beautifully written. It's definitely one to savor. There are plenty of lines to savor. "I’ve come to believe we create our own curses and carry them through life because we’ve been told it’s our lot. We’re taught to relive our mothers’ heartaches, to accept their sufferings as our own, and pass them on to the next generation, again and again." And loads of lovely descriptions of Paris and '80s fashions in the US, plus an Audrey Hepburn-dressed character, who you can instan...

Do you believe in happy endings? Have you had to search for yours?Soline Roussel comes from a family of seamstresses who run an exclusive bridal boutique in Paris. For generations, the Roussells have been schooled in the business of happy endings. Rumor has it that a bride who wears a Roussel gown is guaranteed a lifetime of joy. Driven to expand the business, Soline attempts to branch out on her own just as the Nazis come to occupy France. Her dreams set aside, she discovers she’s accidentally ...

Barbara Davis crafts stories that are both lovely and truly unique. A few summers back, my mom was visiting and picked up one of her books. Before I knew it, she'd devoured Barbara Davis’ entire back catalog. They're just *that* good!"The Keeper of Happy Endings" tells the tale of Soline, who runs a bridal salon in Paris. The dresses, made by her family for generations, are believed to bring a lifetime of happiness to those who wear them. But tragedy strikes with World War II, forever altering S...

I really should have seen this coming, especially with a title like "The Keeper of Happy Endings." But wow, this story piled on the convenient coincidences like nobody's business! It felt like it was trying to be an overly sappy Hallmark movie. Definitely not my cup of tea. I picked this as my free Amazon First Reads selection for September, and I must have been completely out of it when I chose it. Either that, or the description was way off, because this is *not* the kind of book I usually go ...

Wow, I totally didn't see that ending coming! It started a little slow, but once it got going, I couldn't put "The Keeper of Happy Endings" by Barbara Davis down. Definitely a page-turner and a great book if you're looking for emotional women's fiction. Highly recommend checking out this book review if you're on the fence!
