Okay, don't judge me, but I don't think there will ever be an Outlander book that gets less than 5 stars from me šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø sorry not sorry, but I've been such a hardcore fan of this series since book 1 šŸ˜šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøI felt that this volume of *The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5)* was a little quieter than the previous four. There was a little less about war/battles, and more about family and interpersonal relationships. Nevertheless, the action was by no means neglected. In my opinion, Diana Gabaldon i...

And the story continues. ♄Listening to these audio books back to back, they are starting to run together. I think I mentioned this before, but it's like one big, ongoing Outlander movie or something. I don't know if what I listened to was something from the other book or vise versa. Here's what I know. Everyone is living together at Fraser's Ridge. Jamie gets called into the army by the Governor and Roger is with him. There is some fighting but I think there is more to come. And sweet baby Jesus...

I DID IT. I FINISHED THIS HULKING BEAST OF A BOOK.The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5) is the fifth book in Diana Gabaldon’s time-traveling historical fiction saga. I have enjoyed all the books up until this one, some with reservations, but still enjoyed. They all felt like they had strong backbones, and even though they were long, most of the stuff stuffed up in there had a point. Not so with this one, though. Since The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5) is soooooo looooooong, I’m going to respond ...

And so, book 5, *The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5)*, comes to an end. I started reading this series on June 16th, and it has consumed me for all of my summer holidays. I swore I would take a break after each one but could not. They are long, they are detailed, and all the names get a little confusing sometimes. I suppose I, myself, could be accused of jumping on the bandwagon, what with the TV series airing. Maybe so, but as I have had the books on my Kindle, and some of them in paperback, for...

I don't think any author is as in love with her characters and her own writing as Diana Gabaldon is. To the point where she seems convinced that *absolutely everything* she writes about them *has* to be in her books. Who cares about the plot, moving things along, and only including events that advance the story? Not Diana! I've loved the *Outlander* books for a while now, despite their fragmented nature and sometimes convoluted storylines. But this time, even the most dedicated fan would notice ...

Like a Glucose Tolerance Test, Only Recommended for Absolute Die-Hard FansA glucose tolerance test is a test given to a pregnant woman to determine if she has gestational diabetes. The test involves forcing the poor pregnant woman to drink an inhuman amount of a glucose drink, something that tastes like overly-sugared soda. Then, blood glucose levels are measured at different intervals after the body metabolizes the glucose. It's not the substance as much as the sheer volume of the sweet drink t...

Second read - 2021Reading along with the show but I fell behind— forgot how massive (but wonderfully written) these books are. Definitely have to finish The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5) and read the next to catch up... winter is a great time for big books!! First read - 2008Although I really do love this series-- book 5, The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5), seemed to go on and on and on without really moving the story forward that much... certainly not 1,000 plus pages worth. That said, Diana...

When I finished reading it, my gut reaction was to give "The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5)" a 4-star rating. However, after some thought, I have to be honest with myself and admit it was really more of a 3-star read. *The Fiery Cross* is the 5th book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, a fantasy/romance/historical/time travel/everything-but-the-kitchen-sink series that kicked off when Claire Randall, on her second honeymoon in Scotland, gets thrown back in time from 1946 to Scotland during t...

Honestly, *The Fiery Cross (Outlander, Book 5)* is the weakest link so far. This book just *dragged*. It took me nearly four times as long to get through it compared to the previous books in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. There was so much unnecessary drama crammed in. The genuinely interesting bits were few and far between, but just frequent enough to keep me from giving up. And I'll admit, by the end, I was finally hooked enough to want to dive into the next one, so it didn't complete...

I'm not giving it two stars only because I love the characters so much, nothing more.
Four months to finish what, for me, is the most boring book in the series, tremendously descriptive and tiring.
I couldn't connect with the story at all :(
