Ummm... I don't even know where to start. *The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty* was definitely a far cry from the 'Sleeping Beauty' I remember from childhood. LOL! I love a good, dark, erotic story, but this was just bizarre. I had to create a new shelf for this one, named 'WTF did I just read'.
Aside from the overzealous paddle-wielding, the story wasn't really particularly "dark". Nope, the shocking nature of this tale seemed to come from its complete and total strangeness. It was just so damn we...

Oh no, no, no, no, no, no......NO!!What in the name of Holy Mother was that???A JOKE???Because seriously, if it is then call me dumb, but I don't get it!!Now first of all, let me clarify that I love erotica, and the fact that this story was supposed to be an erotic-retelling of Sleeping Beauty, captured my attention. My heartfelt apology to all those other reviewers who warned Readers away. I did not heed their warnings because I was too curious. But I guess, in this case at least, the age-old say...

Okay, let's get one thing straight right off the bat: Are reviewers actually reading these books? Aren't we supposed to ditch our baggage when we crack open a new read? Because let's be real, this is one of *those* books. If you want to truly dive in and enjoy it, listen up:
1) This series ISN'T erotica. It's straight-up pornography. Erotica teases, suggests, whispers. Pornography? It's descriptive, graphic, in your face. **The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty** is pornography. So, if you're easily ...

So, a friend sent me an article about "50 Shades of Grey," mentioning that real erotica experts thought 50 was crap and A.N. Roquelaure's *The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty* was the real deal. Being nothing if not thorough, I bought *The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty*, book #1. WHAT. THE FUCK.No. NO! NONONONONO. Who on earth thought THIS would be a good example from the erotica world? I don't get BDSM from this; I get some weird torture porn. You know what immediately turns me off a sexy-times book?...

I need brain bleach after reading The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. And trust me, I'm no prude (I'm a gynecologist, I've seen it ALL). It's just THAT awful.Public service announcement: This book is brought to you by the generous sponsorship of the word 'spanking'. It's repeated so many times it starts to lose all meaning. A drinking game where you take a shot every time 'spanking' is mentioned wouldn't last five minutes (unless you have a truly superhuman liver). And since there are only so many w...

WARNING: ANIMATED .GIF DUMP, because I seriously can't with this book. Finally finished, and I'm so damn glad to have The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty out of my life and tucked away. This book dragged some *strong* feelings out of me, going from pure disbelief to WTF to OMG, ENOUGH WITH THE SPANKING ALREADY! in, like, 30 pages flat.I've charted my emotional rollercoaster from start to finish:Pre-read, with ridiculously high hopes: Pages 1 - 100: Pages 100 - 200ish: Page 200 - end: This book is jus...

My boyfriend says this is a riot to read out loud on a plane if you're trying to make your fellow passengers squirm. As far as I'm concerned, that's about the only thing A.N. Roquelaure's *The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty* is good for. Looking for weird book reviews? Look no further.

Disclaimer: I read "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" on a dare. I'm not a fan of pure erotica, and I'm no expert in BDSM, so it was pretty much obvious from the start that I wouldn't enjoy this read. That's why I'm not rating this book, as it wouldn't be fair to lower its average rating "on purpose"—not that I think one rating would cause such "damage," but anyway...So, how should I start this review rant of mine? ;) Okay, how about the plot? Plot?!? Yes, dear friends, "The Claiming of Sleeping ...

My grandma gave me this in a boxed set for Christmas one year. She knew I was into fairy tales and retellings. I’m pretty sure she had no clue these books were erotic. I think she just saw "Sleeping Beauty" and figured I’d want it. When I finished, she asked to borrow it. I conveniently “forgot” every time she asked. Book 1: A fun, fresh read. The backstory was interesting, and there were plenty of creatively kinky bits to enjoy. Book 2: The series lost steam. A lot of the plot and background fa...

I can't help but review "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" by A.N. Roquelaure from the perspective of someone who's read it before and recently revisited it. I like to think of the entire trilogy as a flower. The first book, "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty," is the bud, and by the time you reach the end of the third novel, it's in full bloom."The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" begins with innocent young Beauty being 'awakened' by the Prince. I appreciate how innocent Beauty is, because as the read...
