Enchanting, magical, & utterly immersive! From the moment I opened THE AMALFI CURSE by SARAH PENNER, I was intrigued by the world she was building. Ancient sea magic, mysterious shipwrecks, and whispers of the past made me curious to see where the story would take me. I could not stop reading once I started to fully connect with it.💭 Mood reader moment: I literally stopped in my tracks when I saw this one. The title immediately caught my eye, and the nautical touches with glints of gold on the c...

"Potent witchcraft. A hunt for sunken treasure. Forbidden love on the high seas. Beware The Amalfi Curse…"Such an impressive interweaving of two timelines, one as early as 1821 to present day. The history behind the kidnapping of four witches in the Positano Village in Italy was tense and suspenseful, and I couldn't wait to discover their fate. The story centers around a woman and her forbidden lover. The present timeline introduces Haven, a nautical archaeologist, who is there to finish her dad'...

Dreaming of a getaway to the Amalfi Coast? Picture yourself in a classic pastel villa with stunning sea views, a limoncello in hand, and the sweet smell of bougainvillea filling the air. If that sounds appealing, I’ve got the perfect summer escape for you: *The Amalfi Curse* by Sarah Penner. You might know her from *The Lost Apothecary* (2021) and *The London Séance Society* (2023), both of which I really enjoyed. Once again, Penner skillfully uses a dual-timeline narrative to intertwine the st...

I’d been counting down the months like a kid waiting for Christmas, dreaming of a magical romp along the Amalfi Coast, courtesy of Sarah Penner. But when I finally cracked open *The Amalfi Curse*, it was less “mind blown” and more “mind mildly ruffled.” It feels like you’re sold a ticket to paradise, but when you arrive, the hotel’s half-built, and the pool’s a puddle. It’s not a disaster, but it’s not the grand escape I’d hyped up in my head either. Let’s start with the shiny bits. Penner’s go...

I enjoyed this so much! It gave me very similar vibes to THE LOST APOTHECARY, and I’m always in awe of how many side plots + genres Sarah Penner can weave into a 300-page book! Read if you like: good settings / Italian coast, magical realism (witchcraft/spells), forbidden romance, adventure and “treasure hunting” vibes, themes on family and friendship, multiple POVs The setting of this was a VIBE! And this book was so quick to read—it pulled me in immediately, and I finished it in 2 sittings. ...

PHENOMENAL!! Thank you NetGalley, Sarah Penner, and Harlequin Trade Publishing/Park Row for granting me access to "The Amalfi Curse" in exchange for an honest review. Wow! Just PERFECTION!!! What a beautifully written and captivating historical fantasy filled with forbidden love, powerful magic, sunken treasure, mysterious shipwrecks all set along the Amalfi Coast. After devouring "The Lost Apothecary," I eagerly anticipated Penner’s next adventure—and this one soared beyond every expectation. "...

Okay, real talk – I *hate* dual timelines. Like, with a passion. They almost never work for me. And yet, somehow, *The Amalfi Curse* totally pulled it off. Witches, sunken treasure, forbidden love, an archaeologist, AND a breathtaking Italian setting. What's not to love?I devoured this book in under 24 hours. Seriously, I couldn't put it down! This was my first Sarah Penner novel, and it definitely won't be my last. Her writing is simply stunning. She conjures such a vivid picture that you genui...

I absolutely hate writing two-star reviews, I truly do. But "The Amalfi Curse" just did NOT live up to my hopes. Pirate shipwrecks and Italian Sea Witches deserved so much better. 💔 If you're looking for captivating historical fiction with a touch of magic, I'm sad to say this isn't it.

Just like I devoured Sarah Penner's other historical fantasy books, I went into "The Amalfi Curse" blind and completely loved the two timelines that weave together so well. The story follows sea witches protecting the Amalfi Coast, and centuries later, an archaeologist searching for a mysterious treasure. I was hooked from the first chapter. The gripping, fast-paced storytelling, the intriguing perspectives of Mari, Holmes, and Haven, the powerful incantations of the sea witches, and the heart-...
