A children's book classic that I experienced this time as an audiobook/radio play. It was really well done with fantastic voice actors! It was a brief and thoroughly enjoyable pleasure. I also really love the story itself! Ronia and Birk are the children of two feuding robber gangs. The children become friends, which, of course, their parents don't like at all... A very beautiful story with a happy ending. If you're looking for classic children's books, *Ronia, the Robber's Daughter* by Astrid L...

I consider *Ronia, the Robber's Daughter* to be the best of all Astrid Lindgren's fantastic works. *Ronia* was the author's last novel; she was 72 years old when she wrote it in 1981. This chef-d'oeuvre has been translated into 49 languages, and with its striking ability and humorous levity, I would argue that it has a great deal to offer both young and old, which I hope my analysis will show. Feminist Gender Analysis of *Ronia, the Robber's Daughter* To begin with, the book has a female protag...

A true children's book classic that somehow feels timeless. Ronia is the daughter of the robber chief Mattis and his wife Lovis. The clan has been feuding for years with Borka and his robbers. Borka has a son - Birk. One day, Ronia and Birk become friends, much to the dismay of Mattis. But Ronia is self-confident and won't be told who she can be friends with.I love the story of Ronia and her adventures. It's exciting as well as sad, and somehow also beautiful. Everything all together. And I thin...

Ronia arrived on a stormy night, the very one that split the fortress in two with a lightning strike. Ever since, two rival robber clans had occupied each side of the chasm. After spending her early years with her parents and the robber band, Ronia finally ventured outside and discovered the enchanted wood. She amused herself there daily until she spotted a boy on the other side. Birk, also born on that stormy night, was the son of the Borka clan. Ronia was the daughter of Matt's clan. But when ...

Read it as a kid, read it as an adult. Still loved it.

"Ronia, the Robber's Daughter" by Astrid Lindgren is part of my "1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up" challenge. A total classic! If you're looking for great kids' book reviews, definitely check this one out.

The story of Ronja and Birk is similar to Romeo and Juliet – two children from warring families become friends. Thank goodness, their parents reconcile before anything tragic happens to the kids, so everything works out well in the end. In a world of robbers and goblins, you're in good hands with 'Ronia, the Robber's Daughter'. Open this book, and you'll practically smell the forest... a truly enchanting read for kids and adults alike. Astrid Lindgren weaves a magical tale!

How cool is Ronia? Very cool indeed! :) I think she's a direct descendant of that little robber girl from Hans Christian Andersen's *The Snow Queen*. And she's not the only cool character in the book. On the contrary, Lovis is one of the coolest (most cool?) mothers you could imagine, robber or not. Compositionally, this might be the best book by Astrid Lindgren that I know. Everything is perfectly balanced, ensuring that children aren't overwhelmed by lyricism, sentiment, or the harsh realities...

I absolutely adore this book; "Ronia, the Robber's Daughter" and "The Brothers Lionheart" are my all-time favorite stories from the pen of the magnificent Astrid Lindgren. A book about growing up, kindness, and the choices we make in life. It's incredibly engaging and simply, wonderfully human. Naturally, I've reread it countless times!!!

It's like Romeo and Juliet, but with a happy ending! Two robber clans, enemies for as long as their chiefs Mattis and Borka can remember, share a forest and a castle. The castle's split in two by a giant lightning strike, and they share a common enemy in the knights of the crown. Bad-mannered, ill-tempered, violent, and boastful, they live their robber's lives amongst the magical and dangerous creatures of the woods......until one day, they face a challenge where they least expect it: in their o...

This was probably my favorite book I read in 2011. My friend gave it to me last year or the year before, and I always take a while to get to books that people have given me. I have to warm up to the concept of the book and get used to the cover and think about what mood would be the best for a read. I’m glad I waited so long to read it because the time/place for the read was perfect. I just enjoyed the hell out of this story. A lot of elements of the story hit my favorite things, and I loved its...
