Are you kidding me? That's how it ends? My heart is still racing! I need the next book in this series ASAP! I've been hooked on John A. Heldt's writing since his very first time travel novel. He has a knack for creating characters that keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. River Rising (Carson Chronicles, Book 1) is no exception. Adam and his siblings believe they've lost their parents for good when they disappear for months. Then, a mysterious letter arrives, which Adam shares...

I've been a fan of John A. Heldt's books for a while now. I'd describe them as historical fiction with a unique spin. As someone who loves historical fiction, I really appreciate how Heldt brings important historical events to life. He has a knack for painting vivid scenes in my mind. When you throw in the time travel element and some engaging characters, the story gains a real sense of humanity and vibrancy. River Rising (Carson Chronicles, Book 1) builds towards the devastating flood of 1889,...

Author John Heldt provided an e-copy of *River Rising (Carson Chronicles, Book 1)*, the first book in his new series: Carson Chronicles for review. I will start by saying I have been anticipating the release of *River Rising (Carson Chronicles, Book 1)* since John Heldt announced it. I have read and enjoyed both his previous series; Northwest Passage and American Journey. I expected his new series would be as entertaining. No fears there, it is great! Mr. Heldt has changed the approach to his ...

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect diving into River Rising. The idea of time travel has always fascinated me, and I appreciated the direction John A. Heldt took the story. However, as far as historical fiction book reviews go, I have mixed feelings. I felt that many of the characters were a little one-dimensional, and some (especially the female characters) even fell into unpleasant stereotypes at times. The repetition, particularly in the dialogue, really bothered me. I found it distracti...

History springs to life once more under the skilled pen of author John A. Heldt. River Rising kicks off a new era in Mr. Heldt’s time-traveling, romantic sagas, where a single letter sends five siblings on an incredible journey into the past to find their missing parents. Little did the Carson siblings know that their lives, and the lives of those they've come to love, would be threatened by a raging flood. This flood will tear out the very heart of a bustling Pennsylvania town, even as the hun...
