I don't know if it's just not the right time for me or what, but I'm giving up on it.
I'd happily return to *Redwall* by Brian Jacques if there was an audiobook version available. Maybe I'll look for some book reviews to see if it picks up later on.

I'm officially off my rocker, and here's the proof. There are 22 books in the Redwall series. Each one clocks in at roughly 400 pages (we'll take the average here). That adds up to a whopping 8,800 pages in the entire saga. And I've devoured them all five or six times. That means I've read somewhere between 44,000 and 52,800 pages of Redwall by Brian Jacques. Sometimes you just need endless, mouthwatering descriptions of feasts, animals chatting away, bursting into song, and reciting little rhymes....

See this review and more like it on www.bookbastion.netI actually read Brian Jacques' *Redwall* as one of my first chapter books when I was a kid. But since that was so long ago, and near the start of my reading journey, my brain had pretty much wiped all the details – except that I remembered enjoying it. I'm happy to say that I found *Redwall* just as enjoyable as an adult reader, maybe even more so. There are definitely aspects I appreciate now that would have completely gone over my head bac...

I adored the Redwall series when I was a kid. Whenever we visited my grandma's, I'd make a beeline for the library and grab a stack of books, and the Redwall books were always in the mix. I read a bunch of them – I think I got up to Lord Brocktree – before my interest faded. Partly because the plots started to feel the same, but also because I just moved on to other books. When my book club chose Redwall as our next read, I was excited to revisit it and see if it lived up to my memories.Well, as...

Okay, so there's this young mouse named Matthias who lives in the walled abbey of Redwall, which is full of all sorts of nice animals like mice, badgers, squirrels, and so on (definitely not the nasty predator types like rats and foxes). Then, their peaceful life gets totally disrupted—seriously threatened, even—by an invasion of super-evil rats. Maybe Matthias will step up and become the awesome warrior who saves all the animals when they need him most!
This is a pretty fun middle grade/YA med...

This book is pretty much what got me hooked on reading, because I used to absolutely hate it. I know, I know, hate reading? How is that even possible? The truth is, when you're eight or nine, reading usually doesn't sound as appealing as watching cartoons. But one glorious day, I somehow stumbled across a cartoon of *Redwall* by Brian Jacques, and I LOVED it! I liked it so much that when the cartoon ended, I had to know more about this amazing world. But I didn't have a way to watch the other ep...

Via Book Reviews by Niki Hawkes at www.nikihawkes.comIf I could say one thing about Brian Jacques, it's that he was a master storyteller! His books take you on grand adventures that rival the best fantasy novels out there. I’ve read them so many times the covers are falling off! What’s more, the series sustains itself, with drawn-out stories about downright fascinating characters. Bravery and Goodness can come from anywhere, and there are always evildoers to stand up to. They are such well-round...

I honestly can't remember the last time I was this let down by a book that came so highly recommended and has such a devoted fanbase. Seriously: I'm all for a good story about talking animals, but I expect at least a *little* believability, maybe a decent character or two... a plot, perhaps...?One thing that really bugged me was that I couldn't grasp the *scale* of the Redwall world in Brian Jacques' *Redwall*. Are these mice and rats living secretly in a world built by humans? If so, where are ...

2.0 stars. Okay, full disclosure: YA fantasy is starting to lose its shine for me, which probably makes me a tougher critic when I see what I consider weak efforts. That being said, I still get a kick out of the really good, compelling stuff. Unfortunately, REDWALL AIN'T IT!! YA is one thing, but this felt like the *most* YA of all the YA fantasy books I've read in a while. It just felt too juvenile.Even though Brian Jacques's *Redwall* is fairly well-written and paced decently, I found the ...

You know what the absolute best thing about these books was? And I say 'books' because there were so freaking many of them, I couldn't sit still long enough to actually count them all. And I DID read every single one. What else was there to do in middle school, honestly?Anyway, the best part of the *Redwall* books was Brian Jacques' descriptions of the food. They were magnificent. It didn't just make you hungry; it made you crave the weirdest stuff that no one in middle school would ever dream o...
