I honestly doubt I would have picked up "Prince of Silk and Thorns" by Cherry Dare if it hadn't been for a reading challenge. So, it was a genuinely pleasant surprise that I ended up really enjoying this story. Sure, I could have done without some of the humiliation and torture (though thankfully, those parts were relatively brief and not too graphic), but the book offered so many other compelling elements. There were palace intrigues, thrilling fights, palpable pain and grief, the intricate wor...

I'm not a huge fan of BDSM, but the blurb for Prince of Silk and Thorns by Cherry Dare sounded so intriguing that I had to give it a shot. I wasn't *completely* disappointed. The story took a little getting used to at first, but I was hooked pretty quickly. Before I knew it, I was 65% of the way through in the middle of the night... (as Caipi pointed out, sleep *is* overrated anyway, so that was perfectly fine). What wasn't so fine, unfortunately, was that just when it seemed like everything wa...

*** 3 Stars ***Okay, "Prince of Silk and Thorns" by Cherry Dare is a WILD ride. It's like a historical drama threw a party with some BDSM, a slave/master thing, seriously messed-up royalty, a dash of fantasy, and enough steamy scenes to fog up your glasses. Whew! The story definitely brings the heat.My gripes:.) I'm not a fan of insta-love, and the main characters seemed to fall hard way too fast for my liking..) Honestly, I wish "Prince of Silk and Thorns" was shorter. It felt too long, draggin...

I gave the first 5% of "Prince of Silk and Thorns" a shot, and honestly, that was more than enough for me to realize this story just isn't my cup of tea. Right from the start, we see one of the main characters forced into oral rape by the other, right in front of his whole village and his younger brother. He's humiliated beyond belief and basically turned into a slave. Am I seriously supposed to be rooting for this? Hard pass. "Prince of Silk and Thorns" by Cherry Dare is definitely not a book I...

If you only read the first book in Cherry Dare's miniseries, then prepare to have your assumptions completely shattered. After snagging the first installment for free and diving in, I was anticipating a wildly different story than what *Prince of Silk and Thorns* actually delivered. Broken down into five parts, the initial two take on a dramatically different tone, almost reminiscent of Anne Rice's *Beauty* series, with an arrogant, cruel, and detached prince terrorizing an innocent. Let's just ...

Fans of deviant sex and fantasy mixed together might enjoy this m/m fantasy, Prince of Silk and Thorns by Cherry Dare. This story is difficult to categorize because it blurs all the lines. There are children of fallen angels, sexual slavery, and political intrigue. Is this fantasy or paranormal? Does it even matter? Prince Alar is a royal who abuses his power by enslaving people in his kingdom. On his latest ride through the countryside, he spies farmboy Garin and seizes him to be his latest sex...

Don't go into this expecting actual, living angels. You won't find any here. Just a heads up."Prince of Silk and Thorns" is pretty intense with the sex and the graphic injuries, plus the whole drawn-out recovery thing. Nothing inherently wrong with any of that, it's just not really my cup of tea. So, I'm knocking off a star for that. Also, the first few chapters feel kind of like a rough draft. Another star gone for that. But, if you're willing to stick with it through the rough patches, give it ...

This almost landed in my DNF (Did Not Finish) pile. There's an overwhelming amount of pain, suffering, violence, violations, and humiliation packed in here, to the point where I barely made it past the first chapter. Honestly, it's probably not a great sign when you finish the first chapter wishing one of the heroes would grow a spine and the other would just meet a gruesome end. On the day the main characters – Prince Alar and farmboy Garin – meet, Garin is whipped twice, orally raped once, ana...

Okay, so *Prince of Silk and Thorns* by Cherry Dare totally blindsided me. At first, I thought it was just straight-up erotica – the writing style is pretty straightforward, and it definitely leans into the steamy stuff. But there’s actually a solid story hiding in there, and the deeper I got, the more compelling it became. Honestly, the writing itself seemed to improve noticeably in the second half too. It's not really dark fantasy, more like a proper adventure story, complete with a slave, fal...

Review written for Hearts on Fire Reviews. I'll start by saying that *Prince of Silk and Thorns* wasn’t nearly as dark as I expected. Things move quickly: Prince Alar appears as a total bastard, forcing Garin, a young farm boy, into slavery. Before doing so, he humiliates and roughly uses Garin in front of his village and the brother Garin has taken the place of, all to save him from the same fate. But all is not as it seems. Right away, Garin is shamed by what's happened and the impulses he h...
