Loved the romantic tension and humor!!New 2022 review below my 2015 review This is my first neighbor from hell book, and I'm so in love with this writer! I loved the humor and the romantic tension, the angst, and the way the characters developed their relationship. Haley and Jason were hilarious and made perfect sense. I'm so glad I bought the next books in the series so I can continue reading it!4.5 stars NEW REVIEW:Haley (29) and Jason (31) are neighbors, and she can’t STAND him. Not only that...

5 LMAO StarsThis book is such a blast! I told my friend I needed something lighthearted, and she recommended it. It was spot on.The story revolves around two neighbors who, thanks to some minor misunderstandings and a few questionable choices, absolutely loathe each other.Of course, the moment they're forced to spend time together and actually talk things out, everything clicks. They instantly realize they're perfect for each other and become best friends.Naturally, their attraction for each oth...

Warning: You WILL laugh out loud! I'm serious!I usually hate reading funny books, but I randomly picked this one up, and it was SO good!Enter, Jason. He's 31 and quite possibly the biggest jackass on earth, or at least he seems that way. He's every homeowner's nightmare. We see what a prick he is through Haley's eyes. How would you feel if your idiot neighbor destroyed your flower bed? I don't know about you, but I would have KILLED HIM! Well, in our story, his actions bring them closer, w...

Everything felt like a tired cliché: she's got a rich family who doesn't get her, the grandma is tough as nails but instantly approves of the 'boyfriend' even though she's never done that before, the son is a carbon copy of the dad, they *have* to wrestle in the mud to connect upon meeting, he's instantly turned on by her to an unbearable degree, she's a foreplay goddess even though she's a virgin, THEIR BEDROOM WINDOWS ARE LITERALLY TWO FEET APART – talk about convenient, she has a run-in with ...

This book was amazing, and after a lot of thought, I finally decided to give it a 5-star rating! ;)'Playing for Keeps' is a perfect example of why you should NEVER judge a book by its cover... and I'm so glad I didn't with this one. The stellar reviews *Playing for Keeps* by R.L. Mathewson received from my book besties left me curious enough to pick it up. So, applause to them for their fabulous reviews! :D And now I'm just another reviewer hoping that I recommend this book well enough... so tha...

Sadly, I only made it to page 39 of "Playing for Keeps" before I had to throw in the towel. The blurb suggests an enemies-to-lovers story, but the main characters are only enemies for the first few pages – literally. They quickly become instant best friends, which we're told, not shown. So, the book is actually more of a friends-to-lovers story. While the friends-to-lovers trope wouldn't have necessarily deterred me, the book also suffers from poor editing. (I've since learned that R.L. Mathe...

Sometimes when I read other people's reviews, I think, "Did we even read the same book?"Anyway, the good stuff: this book is really well-written, especially considering it's self-published. The story flows nicely and is super engaging. I was having a blast while reading and couldn't stop turning the pages. But honestly, it totally lost me in the last third.Okay, the not-so-good: this book is about two incredibly immature adults who take childishness to a whole new level. Hayley starts dating her...

5 starsIt's been ages since I've loved a book this much, so I'm shouting it from the rooftops! You know the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover"? Yeah, we all do it anyway. A pretty cover will make me buy a book faster than a killer blurb. I know, I know—maybe it's just me being shallow or a straight-up book cover snob, but it's the truth. If "Playing for Keeps" by R.L. Mathewson hadn't been recommended to me, I never would have picked it up. So, to all my Goodreads friends who feel my book ...

O.M.G.! What a funny and sexy contemporary romance! It was over-the-top silly, but it made me laugh so many times! And best yet, the steamy parts were HOT. Jason is Haley’s next-door neighbor from HELL, but in truth, he really is a fun and misunderstood kind of guy. Sure, the neighborhood started many petitions trying to get him to stop doing this or that, but he means well. And his shy little neighbor has never once complained. However, Jason is pretty clueless when it comes to things like wo...
