When I review a book, I usually avoid talking about the nitty-gritty stuff – the layout, the formatting, the editing, etc. – since that's rarely the author's fault. But some books have formatting issues that seriously get in the way of enjoying the story, and I feel the need to call them out. That's the case with Pandora's Temple: A Blaine McCracken Thriller. It looks like a straight-up conversion from a PDF print layout, complete with lines that randomly break in the middle of the page and hyph...

I suppose you could label this a "Beach Read." I grabbed Pandora's Temple: A Blaine McCracken Thriller for free on my Kindle, looking for something undemanding to occupy my time while traveling. It definitely kept me engaged. If you're searching for thrilling book reviews, Jon Land's novel is worth considering for your next trip.

I used to love Blaine when I was a teenager. Classic 80s-style action. Unfortunately, the plot of *Pandora's Temple: A Blaine McCracken Thriller* is just stupid and reads like it should have stayed in the 80s.
Not my cup of tea. This Jon Land book wasn't for me.

It was good, right up until the end. The ending didn't really explain why the villain wanted Pandora's Box in the first place. I understood the Aum Shinrikyo guys' motive (a nice touch using a real-life terrorist group, and one I remember from when I was younger), but Sebastian Roy's motive didn't make sense to me. There was too much irony at the end, and irony is the weakest payoff for all the setup. On the other hand, Jon Land did what he does best: visual, cinematic characters with distinctive...

A fun, pulpy adventure that moves at breakneck speed and reads like a movie. The dialogue is razor-sharp in places (especially the stranger and Captain Seven), capturing real speech perfectly, but other times it feels a bit overwritten. A real person would often say the same thing more concisely. Some of the description and exposition could also be trimmed down. The prologue is fantastic – genuinely cool and sets the scene brilliantly, pulling you in from the start. The chapters focusing on the ...

I ended up really loving "Pandora's Temple: A Blaine McCracken Thriller" by Jon Land once I got deeper into it. My only disappointment was realizing our heroes are in their 60s and 70s! It made me think, what's up with that? I guess the younger generation just doesn't know how to get the job done in this book!
The plot has so many twists and turns, with some genuinely surprising reveals and upsets that I totally didn't see coming. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out who the "real" enemy or ...

Okay, this book was definitely… something else!
*Pandora's Temple: A Blaine McCracken Thriller* was my first Jon Land novel, so I went in blind. It's a non-stop, action-packed, and easy read. But honestly? The genre-bending was a bit much for me. I'm usually all for mixing things up, but *Pandora's Temple: A Blaine McCracken Thriller* throws everything at the wall, from thriller and mystery to science fiction. One thing's for sure – romance is *definitely* off the table. :)
That being said, I ...

Pandora's Temple: A Blaine McCracken Thriller is my first dive into Jon Land's work, and I'm genuinely hooked! It's a classic, high-octane adventure where the hero's battling to save the entire world. This book's the latest in the Blaine McCracken series, and our guy's pushing 60. But don't think he's slowed down – not one bit. Kudos to Land for writing a thriller with a protagonist who some might write off as past his prime. The plot even has McCracken questioning if he's lost his edge, which j...

Pandora’s Temple: A Blaine McCracken ThrillerJon LandCaptain John J. Hightower picked up a stranger on Crete Island. This mysterious and unidentified man remained by the research ship’s deck rail, watching the turbulent sea and hoping to see what he was looking for. The ship, the Aurora, had been mapping the seafloor in detailed grids, hoping to find something of unknown size, composition, and origin. The man gave Hightower some clues, but none specific enough to reveal what was hidden beneath t...
