A lifelong Midwestern girl, Cassandra was quite young when she discovered the haunting undertones behind everyday life. A haunting experience as a university senior in the summer of 2004 changed everything; she would struggle to make sense of that experience until she started work on Mary, Everything in 2013. Bathed in...

4.5 stars – Ever feel like you were born in the wrong era? Like you just don't quite fit into your own life? What if it were actually true?In 2004, Courtney is a twenty-year-old student working in her university's archives. As her first *real* job, she has to read through yearbooks from the 1920s. She feels intensely drawn to that period, recognizing people in the photographs she shouldn't know, feeling more alone than ever when she has to leave it all behind.I'm consistently impressed by debut ...

4.5/5 StarsI’d heard some really great things about this book before I picked it up, and the synopsis alone sounds absolutely fantastic, but nothing could have prepared me for what a fun, whirlwind of a ride this book was! "Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant, Book 1)" opens in 2004, and follows Courtney, who is spending her summer working in her university’s dusty archives. While out on her lunch break one day, she bumps into Sadie – who feels slightly out of place and is dressed in a seriou...

This book is a truly wonderful exploration of life and love. Cassandra Yorke absolutely nails the era…the roaring 1920s… All of her characters are vibrant…fun…intelligent…and resilient. Time travel has been used as a plot device countless times, but this author puts a fresh spin on it. Not only does she create a parallel universe mirroring the 1920s, but she allows the character to become completely absorbed and fully integrated, living as if she's been there her entire life. It’s a beautifully ...

Wow.It's raw, it's in your face, and it's deeply personal. Cassandra Yorke's *Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant, Book 1)* really punches you in the gut.The book is urgent and passionate from the jump. After the prologue, the author flips back to 2004 as a flashback. It might feel a bit jarring at first, because you're just settling into her gorgeous picture of the 1920s, but I realized I couldn't fully appreciate 1921 until I'd seen 2004. Courtney's "present" gets increasingly ominous, with...

The problem with finishing a ‘first in series’ is that you immediately crave MORE! When I started "Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant, Book 1)" there was an intentionally jarring back & forth, but the main characters were so intriguing you are carried along for the ride. Then things change and there are more characters, and I could only hope that we would get back to the others... and by halfway through you are tracking the detailed arcs of more than a half-dozen main characters and orga...

Without a doubt, this is the best book I've ever encountered about extradimensional lesbian flapper sorceresses. Seriously. Cassandra Yorke's *Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant, Book 1)* is utterly captivating. The first quarter establishes a mood, a vibe that only intensifies and evolves as the story unfolds. Expertly crafted action sequences are woven between teenage heartthrob drama, but somehow it never veers into the cheesy territory of *Twilight* and its clones. You'll notice there's ...

Like Django Wexler says, "Well, *I* obviously enjoyed it, or I wouldn't have written it. Hopefully other people will too." I really do enjoy reading Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant, Book 1) by Cassandra Yorke sometimes. I spent five years channeling a safe, cozy place, and sometimes it's nice to go back and visit when everything gets to be too much. I do hope others will feel the same. :) If you're looking for a comforting historical fiction read, definitely check out Mary, Everything (T...

This novel is the bee's knees!Cassandra Yorke grabs you from page one of *Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant, Book 1)* and doesn't let go. Her use of serial first-person narration brings an immediacy to this fast-paced story of four college girls who have no idea about their arcane powers until they're forced to use them to survive. As you obsessively turn pages (or scroll), you're drawn into each character's thoughts, dreams, disappointments, and fears, often revealed with a delicious irony...

A wonderful story with intelligent characters and beautiful, poetic descriptions. Cassandra Yorke is easily one of my favorite new authors. **Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant, Book 1)** is definitely a must-read!I lost countless hours of sleep to this book, and I can't remember the last time I gave them up so willingly. Even being screamed awake before 9 AM by a hungry toddler couldn't make me regret those late nights spent in Autumn Grove with four of the best friends I've ever had.Cassan...

Mary, Everything (The Flapper Covenant 01) by Cassandra Yorke was a delightful surprise. This time-travel story has a unique twist (more parallel realities than straight time jumps), and at its heart are a group of young, powerful women wielding a boatload of fascinating magic. The beginning was a little disorienting for me, but after a few chapters, I understood what the author was doing, and the story really started to flow. There are plenty of evil men with awful intentions, but Courtney – wi...
