I really enjoyed Gunner's Run by Rick Barry. Honestly, I’d read it again in a heartbeat. You can tell the author did his homework; the historical accuracy is top-notch. I love diving into historical fiction that actually teaches me something new about the past. The Christian themes were woven in beautifully, too. If you’re a fan of WWII novels or just love a well-researched historical read, you’re going to really enjoy this book.

“Pilot to gunners. Keep your eyes open. We’re almost to target. By now every German fighter in the area knows where to find us.”I read that on the back cover. I did not predict that it would be the opening line. What awed me just as much if not more was the dedication: “Dedicated to those who never returned”I honestly didn't think I would enjoy Gunner's Run by Rick Barry as much as I did! This historical war novel was far better than I expected, and it’s a truly gripping read that kept me hooked...

When a 19-year-old gunner on a Liberator airplane finds himself stranded behind enemy lines in Nazi Germany, he is forced to go on the run to survive. As he desperately tries to make his way back to England, he encounters both the best and the worst of humanity. Rick Barry’s Gunner's Run really captures how complex people can be, showing us that everyone is different. Amidst the chaos, he also finds his way back to his faith. Truly a great book and a must-read for fans of gripping historical war...

I picked up Gunner's Run by Rick Barry not knowing how quickly I’d actually fly through it. From the very first page, I was completely hooked on this story and felt genuinely disappointed every time I had to put it down to handle real-life responsibilities. If you’re looking for a must-read book review recommendation, this is it—I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

I just finished reading Gunner's Run by Rick Barry for the second time—this time in September 2014. I first read it to my daughters about six years ago when they were between 6 and 9 years old, and they absolutely loved it. I just wrapped up reading it to my sons, who are now 8 and 9, and I think they enjoyed it even more. I would read one chapter each night, and they were always begging for just one more. So many chapters end on cliffhangers, so my boys would groan whenever I made them wait unt...

Nineteen-year-old Jim Yoder has his life under control until he suddenly finds himself a fugitive in Hitler’s Third Reich. As he journeys across Europe, Jim encounters other fugitives, traitors, and brave resistance fighters. Will he make it home to tell his father and the girl he loves that he trusts God? I have read Gunner’s Run by Rick Barry three times now. Once on my own, and twice out loud. I started reading it to my dad while we were on vacation, but we didn’t get to finish until we were...
