Rereading the first book this year was genuinely one of my best reading decisions, especially since I didn't enjoy it that much the first time around. Now, I'm completely obsessed with Emily and Wendell, and I absolutely loved this trilogy. Just a heads-up, this review contains spoilers for books one and two, as book three picks up right where the second book left off. While it's a direct continuation of the story, **Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales** is remarkably different from its prede...

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the book but found myself a little disappointed in the end because I was really hoping to love it wholeheartedly. This series has always meant a lot to me, and as I dove into this final installment of the trilogy, I was so excited for it to be the highlight of my reading year. However, it just didn't meet the high expectations I had set. It might be that I built it up too much in my mind. There was something about this book that felt a bit off—maybe it was a lack of that s...

Ugh, what an amazing ending to the series!! 😭 Emily and Wendell had even MORE romance this time around, and every moment was absolutely ADORABLE!! All the things he does for her are so intentional, and dare I say, protective Wendell is the best (we LOVE his duality, of course)!! :') I wish they had a teeny bit more adventure time together, but it fits with the plot :) At least it meant getting Wendell's letters; his small bits of writing are always my favorite in all of the books <3 I always...

In a Nutshell: The third book in the Emily Wilde series. Not a standalone. Great characters. Somewhat slow pacing. The plot feels too convenient and simplistic. Not as dark as it could have been. I recommend reading it in publication order only to those committed to finishing the series. By far, it's not my favorite in the series. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( Note: This review might contain minor spoilers from the earlier two Emily Wilde books. ) Plot Preview: 1910. Emily still struggles to accep...

If I spontaneously combust one day, dissolving into screams before charging into the woods, tearing at my hair, who else is to blame but Wendell? 📍Release Date: February 11, 2025That wasn't enough Emily and Wendell! I need more! A novella, at the very least.Firstly, I was completely captivated by the faerie lore throughout this series, and I loved it even more in this book. Heather Fawcett elevated Irish Folklore to a whole new level. I was blown away by it and the world-building. The plot w...

“Hand you the right storybook, and you are capable of anything.”This was exactly what I hoped for from book 3!“It’s been a while since I had so much fun.”“He nearly decapitated you,” I exclaimed.“Yes, but besides that, Em,” he said patiently. We of course get the same banter and delightful dynamic between the ever practical, pragmatic Emily and the flamboyant, waggish Wendell as they return to Wendell's faerie realm to reclaim his place on the throne. However, it's not a smooth transition as a cur...

While "Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales" wasn’t quite a 5-star read for me, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and the Emily Wilde series overall. It's the perfect comfort read. Heather Fawcett has crafted such an immersive world that effortlessly pulls you in every time. The characters are fantastic too. I liked them all, especially Emily. She has such a unique voice and personality. She's complex, and I loved seeing her grow throughout the series and gradually open up. On a side note, ...

I received an eARC from Del Rey/Ballantine Books via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

4 stars. Both strangely comforting and harrowing, Heather Fawcett's Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales is the most romantic installment in the series so far, offering a satisfying, slightly open-ended conclusion to Emily and Wendell's adventures. A great read for fans of fantasy book reviews!

This was genuinely delightful. I'm annoyed at my reading slump for making it such a struggle to finish Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales, but I absolutely adore these characters. It feels like forever since I've read a wonderfully character-driven and cozy book like this one. Love, love, love! If you're looking for charming fantasy book reviews, definitely check out Heather Fawcett's Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales.

4.5 starsEmily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales is a totally enchanting way to wrap up this trilogy. While none of the books in this series have been exactly cozy, this final one definitely has a more anxious, almost sad vibe as Emily and Wendell explore a darker world. I'm obsessed with how Heather Fawcett weaves faerie lore throughout this series, and I love seeing a new side of the magic in each book. Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales throws Emily—and the reader—headfirst into the world ...
