My husband killed me. But instead of letting my immortal Afterlife be consumed by anger, I moved on. I became someone. Sure, that 'someone' turned out to be a demon, boasting the highest record for 'reform' – or rather, punishment – in all of Hell. But who's counting? I was on the fast track to re...

Dark Horse by Kel Carpenter is an excellent example of how listening to the audiobook can save you from boredom if you were reading the physical book. This paranormal romance review will delve into why the audio experience was so crucial.
I think the narrators did an outstanding job in bringing out Fury's sassiness and snarkiness, Roman's imposing presence, Ezra's indifference, and Dorian's haughtiness.

4 ⭐️ A demon, a werewolf, a vampire, and a fae walk into a bar... and end up mated. This was one of the coolest fantasy books I've read in a while. It's contemporary, which I love, and it features the most amazing, badass, f*ck-around-and-find-out FMC EVER! While I enjoy FMMM books, *Dark Horse* by Kel Carpenter was primarily focused on world-building and mystery rather than the romantic entanglements themselves. It was also lighter on the spice than I was anticipating.I definitely recommend this...

This was such fun and pretty unique, with the whole 'I can't die, I'm back bitches' vibe! And what's this I see in Kel Carpenter's *Dark Horse*? Actually having POC added to the harem? I love it! The number of RH books I've read where the MC has like seven men and every. single. one. of them is white? It's kinda crazy, actually. So, I absolutely loved the change-up here!
Overall, for a fantasy romance, I'm pretty happy with this *Dark Horse* book review; it was a very entertaining read.

4.4 stars. I'm holding off on my final judgment until I finish the trilogy (since I tend to get too excited in the first book of trilogies and then lose interest halfway into the second). But I'm optimistically hopeful about this new fantasy romance, *Dark Horse* by Kel Carpenter.
I really enjoyed the characters and all their interactions. The mysteries are certainly mystery-ing, and the plot is ever-thickening.
So far, it's a medium burn. We've only gotten sexy fun times with one of the men...

DNF at 70%. My Dark Horse book review by Kel Carpenter? One word: Snoozefest.

Alright folks. This *Dark Horse* book review by Kel Carpenter is for you. This fantasy romance was enjoyable and easy to digest – no serious brainpower required for this one.
I've forgotten how to do spoiler tags, so... reader beware!
But for me, it was trope city. Let's count them, shall we?
💥 Overly dramatic, BROODING wolf alpha
💥 Desperate-to-impress vampire alpha
💥 Distant and aloof fae lord
💥 Heroine with a chip on her shoulder and commitment issues
💥 The 'badass' heroine who hates ...

I haven't read a reverse harem in a long time, and I don't even use Goodreads anymore. But here I am, giving Kel Carpenter's Dark Horse my first 5-star rating in what feels like forever. Because it was that good.
> No MM
> No FF

Trigger warning:
Mentions of abuse and torture, grief, depression, violence.

This is the first time I've ever felt a book truly burn out on me. Dark Horse by Kel Carpenter started strong, but it felt like the author crammed everything in all at once towards the end. The pacing just went so fast, and the story completely fizzled out. Honestly, after this reading experience, I probably won't be picking up the next book in the series. This book review for Kel Carpenter's Dark Horse captures my disappointment.

I was so excited reading the blurb for Dark Horse by Kel Carpenter, and the starting chapters definitely made me think it was going to be a fantastic read. But, man, the way Fury's character completely lost her shine as the story progressed was a real shame. The initial time spent on Fury's introduction felt quite rushed. It would have been much nicer to see more of her Afterlife experiences to truly grasp her routine-focused life, which made her so desperate for retirement that she took on the E...

I think I've just discovered a trope I absolutely adore: heroines that simply cannot die. There's just something incredibly satisfying about watching someone think they've successfully eliminated a character, only for them to just pop right back up, unfazed and ready for more.
In Kel Carpenter's **Dark Horse**, the heroine is handed a monumental task – one that many before her have attempted and spectacularly failed. The enticing reward? The retirement she's always dreamed of, in a place of her...
