This was immensely better than *My Sister, the Serial Killer*!*Cursed Inheritance* is a matriarchal family drama that spans three generations and follows the abandoned Falodun women, who all live under the same roof and experience bad luck with men across the board.A new baby girl is born on the same day that beloved daughter Monife dies, and there's no denying the similarities between Eniiyi and her deceased aunt as Eniiyi grows older and becomes entwined with the same family that drove Monife ...

Oyinkan Braithwaite's *Cursed Inheritance* explores compelling themes of family legacy, women confronting and resisting patriarchal structures, and the heavy weight of intergenerational trauma. However, the writing itself didn't quite captivate me; the prose felt somewhat flat. The plot also struggled to build suspense, as we were often aware or had a strong inkling of impending events from the outset. It's an okay novel, but it didn't grab me as intensely as Braithwaite's debut, *My Sister, the...

I'm struggling to find the right words to describe how completely I fell in love with Oyinkan Braithwaite's *Cursed Inheritance*, but I'll give it a shot. It was utterly spellbinding from the very first page.
*Cursed Inheritance* tells the story of three women grappling with a devastating curse that plagues the women of the Falodun family: the cruel fate of being abandoned by their men, left with nothing but shattered hearts. Eniiyi is born to Ebun on the very same day that Ebun's cousin, Monif...

I absolutely adored Cursed Inheritance. The rich, layered storytelling, the way it spans generations, and that totally unique structure? Just brilliant. It's such a satisfying read, and Oyinkan Braithwaite's writing is so sharp and clever. Definitely one for your 'best book reviews' list!

The dog was 30 years old, and that wasn’t even the main thing going on. With Oyinkan Braithwaite's *Cursed Inheritance*, you know you're in for a wild ride. This isn't your average mystery novel; it throws you headfirst into a world where the bizarre is normal. If you're looking for unique book reviews, *Cursed Inheritance* should be on your list.

Imagine being born on the very day your cousin is buried, and inheriting her exact face... Yes, that's just one layer of the curse unraveling in Oyinkan Braithwaite's *Cursed Inheritance*. Braithwaite has a real knack for crafting compelling stories, and I especially appreciate how she consistently focuses on female characters who are both relatable and flawed. *Cursed Inheritance* is a captivating read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely one to check out if you're looking for great book revie...

Oyinkan Braithwaite's *Cursed Inheritance* is a gorgeously intense story about a complicated family of women, each cursed in their past relationships with men. Braithwaite has truly raised the bar since her already wonderful *My Sister, the Serial Killer*, managing to combine a raucous humor—especially around the grandmothers—with a powerful love story featuring Monife, who was a standout character for me.
The backdrop of Lagos is beautifully rendered, from the tribal frictions to the modern ci...

Cursed or Fear?Cursed Inheritance is a darkly humorous novel about a young woman who must shake off the family curse that has been imposed on her bloodline and deal with the deeply held belief that she is the reincarnation of her dead cousin. If you love dark humor in your book reviews, this one is for you.Poor Eniiyi! That girl couldn’t catch a break from the day she was born. Having been born on the same day as the funeral of her cousin, Monife, everybody from then on always chirps up about th...

Thank you to Doubleday for providing a physical copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
*Cursed Inheritance* is a very different book from Oyinkan Braithwaite's debut novel, but in a good way. I devoured *My Sister, the Serial Killer*, but her writing style and maturity have skyrocketed to new levels since. Told in multiple perspectives, we follow the Falodun women:
• Monife, who committed suicide after falling too hard for her Golden Boy;
• Ebun, Monife's cousin who has kept the s...

I used to wish my family had a curse.Or, at least, I did before reading this book. Now the idea doesn't seem quite so appealing.https://emmareadstoomuch.substack.com...There's a lot I liked about Oyinkan Braithwaite's *Cursed Inheritance*—the headstrong characters, the way the stories weave together, and the whole concept of dark magic shadowing generations of women. But I was also a bit let down by some things—the slow beginning that rushed to the end, the confusing shifts in time and point of ...
