Okay, confession time. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I just didn't *love* *Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)*. Don't get me wrong, Leigh Bardugo is fantastic, but this one just didn't fully click for me. Maybe it's just me! After devouring *Six of Crows*, I was dying to dive straight into this sequel. But now I'm wondering if jumping in so fast was a mistake. This duology is undeniably complex and intricate, packed with a long, epic quest, a whole bunch of lovable (if ser...

That’s the problem with Ketterdam, Jesper thought as they stumbled uncertainly through the dark. Trusting the wrong person can get you killed. What's that lying on the floor, you ask? Oh, it's just my heart after Leigh Bardugo heartlessly ripped it out *sob*Seriously, this book was an absolutely insane ride. The leap in quality from the Grisha trilogy to Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom is just astonishing. These books are unmistakably Bardugo, yet they're so much more complex, rich, and well...

“No mourners. No funerals.” Let me tell you a story about a girl I know. For the first time in her life, she got a job, a great job, and she was happy about it. There was only one huge drawback: there was no time to read. Only stolen moments and a few pages a day, just to keep in touch with the essence of magic only words can offer. One cloudy morning, while she was on the bus to work, reading, a scene came. You know which one. There was a gunshot. A kiss. And then silence. Deafening silence. B...

I'm going to miss these characters sooooo much! 😭😭😭 I could've kept reading about them forever!! If you're after a book that's non-stop action, then you'll absolutely devour this series. There was never a dull moment. I'm obsessed with all the planning and heists. And Kaz... he's just on another level of smart. Every time they were in a situation that seemed impossible to escape, they somehow pulled it off (and always in a way that completely blew my mind)! All thanks to Kaz's genius, of cour...

(3.75?) I've got such a love-hate thing going on with this duology.I *want* to adore it. I do care about the characters, but honestly, not nearly as much as the rest of the fandom seems to.I really wish they'd explored the magic system more – that was my absolute favorite part of the Grisha trilogy, and it's sadly missing here. I still think things come way too easily for Kaz. It's like he can whip up these crazy, elaborate plans to outsmart everyone in a split second...SPOILERS (because apparen...

Chapter 40 will always wreck me. Nina and Matthias deserve their own series, seriously. ______________________Things I need to survive: air, food, water, and *Crooked Kingdom*. And honestly, *Crooked Kingdom* is probably the most crucial thing on that list.Wow. I must have been Mother Teresa in a past life because I don't feel worthy of this book. I laughed until I cried, I yelled at the pages, I loved every single character, I cheered like a maniac, I swooned, I straight-up died. Leigh Bardugo ...

“Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?” - American songstress Katy Perry, perfectly capturing the tragedy of finishing this duology.I don’t often “have emotions.” I'm rarely “sad,” a personal choice because sadness is gross and unpleasant. I prefer my emotionless vortex.However.I AM SO SAD THAT THIS DUOLOGY IS OVER.All I want is to dive back into *Crooked Kingdom* (hence the “wanting to start again” part of the iconic quote above). I don’t unders...

I know we frown upon picking favorite books, but you know what? This is my favorite book of all time, and y'all can deal with it. Maybe there were people who lived those lives. Maybe this girl was one of them. But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When ...

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW:First things first, meet Kaz Brekker's crew:5 REASONS WHY CROOKED KINGDOM IS THE BEST SEQUEL EVER#1 Storytelling at its bestThis book will literally have you on the edge of your seat, toes curling, and heart racing. There wasn't a single dull moment. On the contrary! I flew through this book and wished it were even longer than its 546 pages.#2 Parade of twistsLeigh Bardugo is a straight-up genius. I can't even count how many times while reading CROOKED KINGDOM I thought, "No ...
