Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Purchase Thriller by Steve Worland is a total page-turner, even if the plot is a bit nonsensical at times. I really enjoyed that one of the main characters is an Aussie—it adds a fun dynamic to this action-packed thriller. If you are looking for a fast-paced book review to add to your reading list, this one is definitely worth a look.

4.5 starsCorey Purchase & Judd Bell - Book 2Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Purchase Thriller by Steve Worland is a breathless and dramatic read. It kept me thoroughly entertained with its high energy, fast-moving scenes, laugh-out-loud moments, and Sean Mangan’s voice—what a narrator! Seriously, he’s so good!I love Corey Purchase, the Aussie chopper pilot, his best mate NASA astronaut Judd Bell, and Spike the talking dog. They are such awesome, cool characters that you can't help but root for.I...

Yes, it’s ridiculous, yes, it’s action-packed, yes, it’s funny, and yes, I absolutely loved it. Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Purchase Thriller by Steve Worland is a fantastic follow-up to the first book, Velocity. I really hope there’s a third installment in this Judd and Corey series. If you’re looking for a must-read thriller that doesn't take itself too seriously, this is a top-notch book recommendation.

Usually, it’s only supercars that burst into flames.*Judd Bell and his partner are deep into training for a Mars mission, while Corey Purchase is road-tripping across the USA with his dog. Both find themselves in LA for a meeting about a movie based on their previous adventure when an eco-terrorist unleashes an aerial toxin that destroys all combustion engines. In a city that loves its cars just as much as its gridlock, the result is total chaos. Can Judd and Corey step up once again to save the...

I really enjoyed reading Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Purchase Thriller. I found Judd Bell to be a solid, well-developed character, and I especially loved the dynamic between Corey and his dog—their interactions were a highlight for me. It’s also refreshing to see an antagonist who isn't just purely evil; having a villain with understandable motivations added a lot of depth to the story. Overall, this book by Steve Worland is a fantastic, fast-paced thriller that manages to be both genuinely ...

"We're five thousand feet above you with no engine power and there's a large gash in the fuselage. The captain's dead, the copilot's unconscious and there are seventy passengers on board. The airports are all blocked and every goddamn road is jammed with burning cars. Even the canals are full of cars. We need a place to land ASAP."This pretty much sums up what a roller coaster of a ride Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Purchase Thriller is. It's action-packed from cover to cover, and it's exactly...

"The plan was, simply, to make people switch off their combustion engines. That's why the Swarm was designed to turn a vehicle's exhaust purple as soon as the engine was infected, then black before it exploded. It was a warning, so people understood that if they didn't turn off their engines they would die. Of course, for the warning to be effective, some people needed to die early in the process."A nanotech virus, dubbed the Swarm, is released over densely populated Los Angeles. It infects gaso...

NASA astronaut Judd Bell is looking forward to a few days at the Beverly Wilshire hotel with his girlfriend, Rhonda. After he and a few others saved the Atlantis 4 shuttle, life has been a bit of a wild ride. Judd has been treated like a hero, but there’s a cold feeling inside him that shies away from the spotlight. He doesn't see himself as a hero, and a few days with Rhonda—plus catching up with Corey, the Australian chopper pilot who shared in his adventure—might be exactly what he needs. The...

Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Purchase Thriller is the perfect read for fans of big-budget action films. The explosions come thick and fast, planes fall from the sky, and buildings crumble as a madman's twisted environmental crusade wreaks havoc across LA. NASA astronaut Judd Bell and Australian chopper pilot Corey Purchase are reunited in a desperate effort to save the world—again! In the first book, Velocity, the pair were forced to work together to recover a hijacked space shuttle and Judd...

Following the action-packed Velocity (Steve Worland’s debut), the opening of Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Purchase Thriller feels a bit slow. That’s understandable, though, since the story picks up about a year after the events of the first book. The author needs time to re-establish the characters’ current lives and introduce a fresh set of villains before the adrenaline kicks in. While the terrorists in the first book were driven by personal vendettas, in Combustion: A Judd Bell & Corey Pur...
