Charlaine Harris has been a published writer for over forty years. Her first two books were standalones, followed by a long sabbatical when she was having children. Then she began the Aurora Teagarden book, mysteries featuring a short librarian (eventually adapted for Hallmark movies). The darker Lily Bard books came n...

(B+) 76% | GoodNotes: Much more my vibe (less sex described) but full of lusty looks, where exes suck (literally!) and run amok. A far less trashy book.*Check out progress updates for detailed commentary: Progress updates:10/29/2025 - Preamble(1) This is the point in my re-read where I need to decide whether or not to keep using GIFs in status updates.- \"Dead Until Dark\" was the only book that was, more-or-less, faithfully adapted.- The show diverged enough from \"Living Dead in Dallas\" that ...

This one wasn't quite as gripping as the first two, in my opinion. While the plot of *Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 3)* was solid enough, some of the characters got on my nerves a bit. Plus, it definitely felt like it was missing some of the high-stakes excitement and tension that I loved in the earlier books. Overall, a decent read, but not Charlaine Harris's best work.

True Blood book 3: Bill gets kidnapped, and Eric sends Sookie and a Were named Alcide to find him. Yep, Alcide makes his debut in the book series here. Bubba (Elvis?) is back too. This book series didn't really click with me; the whole franchise was overshadowed by the *True Blood* TV show before I even knew these books existed... that's why I (usually) like to read the book first. I'd give it 5 out of 12.2010 read

#1 Dead Until Dark ★★★.5#2 Living Dead in Dallas ★★★★#3 Club Dead ★★★★★ “I don’t like having feelings,” Eric said coldly, and he left. That was a tough exit line to top. This is the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series where Bill's barely around, and it's also my first 5-star rating for the series. Coincidence? I think not!I seriously loved "Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 3)". I could hardly put it down because I was having such a blast diving deeper into Sookie's world, hanging out wit...

This series is completely addictive. I absolutely loved this third installment, even though I suffered a lot for Sookie and her helpless feeling of loneliness, which she thought she'd overcome thanks to Bill… but you see, Bill also leaves, and all signs indicate that he abandoned her without any explanation to return to an old (and very old) flame. But when our heroine discovers that Bill's trip has led to his kidnapping, despite the betrayal, she goes to his aid, knowing that her telepathic gif...

Notes: Though short on substance, it's a light and fun read, boasting better-drawn characters and a brisker pace compared to the previous books in the series. If you're looking for a breezy paranormal romance, Charlaine Harris's Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 3) delivers a satisfying escape. A decent read for fans of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, or anyone looking for a quick and entertaining book review option.

The adventures continue, and this one really veers off the romantic path and into some seriously bizarre territory. Still, it's terrific enough to keep me hooked on the series.
Everyone around Sookie is in danger, and she gets the crap beaten out of her in every single book. She goes through so much, and how much time has actually passed? Only two seasons... barely six months! The fact that she endures so much, and that the plot twists and turns, going in every direction except where you expect...

Through Sookie's voice, Charlaine Harris really gets into the discussion of *genre fiction* in this latest book, because it turns out our sweet Sookie proudly admits she educated herself with two of the least respected genres: romance novels and trashy mysteries.
The snob in me wants to scoff and be offended that I even like Sookie. But the other half, the half that isn’t afraid to admit I wasn't born into *la crème de la crème* or, even worse, raised by pretentious wannabes with a serious case...

Sookie's never exactly been Mensa material, but in *Club Dead* she reaches a whole new level of dumb. The most infuriating thing, in my opinion, is her unwavering pining for that boring, bland Bill throughout the entire book. Bill isn't just boring; he's a cheating jerk. Reasons Why Bill is a Total Asshole:1. He's boring as dirt.2. He has absolutely no sense of humor.3. He's loaded, yet he lets his "love" struggle to make ends meet in poverty.4. Even if he weren't rich, he never brings her flowe...
