Harold the dog thought Bunnicula was just another bunny. But Chester, a well-read cat, suspected something sinister. Bunnicula had fangs, a cape-like marking, and a thirst for…vegetable juice? When veggies turned up drained and fang-marked, Chester knew: Bunnicula was a vampire bunny! Now, Chester a...

Did you know James & Deborah Howe didn't actually write Bunnicula?Sure, their names are on the cover, but the manuscript was actually dropped off at their doorstep by the story's narrator, Harold the dog. <--it was a lot easier to get away with this back in 1979In his own words, Harold describes what happened to the Monroe household after a fluffy baby bunny showed up. The story mainly follows his longtime feline friend, Chester, who tries to prove that Bunnicula is a vampire, only to be ...

This book was way cuter than I anticipated! The back-and-forth between the dog and the cat was hilarious. Seriously, so many laugh-out-loud moments between those two! It wasn't as spooky as I'd hoped, but I was totally drawn in by the mystery that unfolded, and the ending was just so sweet. Deborah Howe's "Bunnicula" is a fantastic read if you're looking for a fun, lighthearted mystery for kids.

This recommendation came from Goodreads.Because you enjoyed The Treadstone Resurrection: Well, here we are! 🐰🧛♂️I'm actually really pleased with this Goodreads suggestion! Obviously, *Bunnicula* is nothing like Treadstone (Bourne Universe). It totally cracked me up when I saw the recommendation, so I just had to check it out.*Bunnicula* by Deborah Howe is a children's book about the Monroe family, who bring home a bunny they found at a movie theater. Harold, their dog, and Chester, their cat,...

It was another blast reading a classic, nostalgia-filled book to my kids! Probably the best part was sharing my progress on Goodreads and seeing the responses. They ranged from, “Wow, I haven’t read *Bunnicula* in years! It was one of my favorites!” to, “WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU READING?!” I mean, it *is* a book about a vampire bunny, and if you saw that cover pop up in your feed and had never heard of Deborah Howe's *Bunnicula*, you might have a similar shocked reaction!I enjoyed reading *Bunnicul...

A super-fun read-aloud for 3rd graders! It really makes you wonder – is Bunnicula a vampire, or what? Great for spooky book reviews and getting kids excited about reading!

I haven’t read *Bunnicula* in probably 30 years or so. I’m happy to report that it’s still delightful and a great read-aloud with kiddos. Deborah Howe's *Bunnicula* remains a classic!
Though I could have done without the special edition scratch-n-sniff bunny droppings cover. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea?

(This review is from 2004.)Since it’s Halloween, I thought I’d talk about something frightening: Bunnies. Vampire bunnies. Ninja vampire bunnies. Okay, so, maybe not that ninja part. But definitely vampire bunnies—one in particular. So, my roommate (Mr. “I’m not in there!” from the other week) was recently given a collection of young adult books as a birthday present. Most of the stack didn’t interest me, but I did notice one specific volume in the pile. I remember reading *Bunnicula* by Deborah ...

Let me lay this out: there is no Bunnicula. This is all about the cat.His name is Chester. He's got schemes and a wild imagination, like cats do. He's deeply into Gothic literature. Here's my Gothic Drinking Game if you need a refresher, and just notice how *Bunnicula* would get you drunk:- Nasty weather- Fainting (in our first hint that Bunnicula may not be the villain, he is usually the fainter)- Creepy noises- Scary eyes- And the most important thing: a relative turns out to be the surprise v...

For my 2017 reading challenges, I'm revisiting a cherished childhood book each month to see if it lives up to my memories and if I, as an old and grumpy Karen, can still enjoy it.
Fingers crossed. Let's see if Deborah Howe's "Bunnicula" still holds up! I'm always on the hunt for great children's book reviews, so I'm hoping this one will be a winner.
