Wow, what a finale! I can't say a thing without spoiling the ending of this incredible saga, except to say how thrilled I am that I picked up "Bella Poldark" by Winston Graham several years ago and got completely hooked. I'm one of those people who watched the PBS Masterpiece show without even realizing it was based on books. I really try to avoid doing that, but I fixed that mistake quickly once I found out. This is probably the best historical fiction series out there, blended with romance, a ...

Rather than delve into specific plot points of this final Poldark installment, *Bella Poldark* by Winston Graham, I wanted to share my overall experience with the series.I started book one four years ago while vacationing in a small Cornish fishing village. It was there, in a quaint little white-washed stone cottage with blue shutters, that I first read about the adventures of Ross and Demelza. I was instantly transported to 18th-century Cornwall. I admit, glancing out my bedroom window at the s...

Aaw, man. Gutted to have finished these novels. They are simply astounding. This final novel, Bella Poldark, could have done with another wee edit, but what a great end to the series by Winston Graham. If you're looking for captivating historical fiction, don't miss this one. Highly recommended for book club discussions!

Well, it's done. I've finally finished the last book in the series. Of course, Goodreads' rating system limits the Poldark Saga to 5 stars, but if I had my way, it would get 52 stars from me.I can't even begin to describe how much I'm going to miss this family, these characters, this setting. Heck, I'll even miss those two Irish Wolfhounds, Castor and Pollux, that belonged to Harriet, George Warleggan's second wife. No more wondering what George will scheme next, or how Ross and Demelza will cop...

The twelfth and final book of the Poldark series, Bella Poldark is a fitting and satisfying end to a saga that has spanned several decades and multiple generations of the Poldarks of Cornwall. Packed with story lines all its own, it still manages to tie up all the central characters and give one a sense that things have come to a completion. At the same time, there is a sense that life, as it always does, goes on.
Near the end, Demelza (perhaps my favorite character among all those I have loved...

This was my least favorite of all 12 books in the series. The serial killer felt ridiculous, and the cigar-smoking ape was just as absurd. Bella's career in *Bella Poldark* didn't really grab me, so this one was a real slog to get through.
I was seriously disappointed and, like someone else suggested, I'm wondering if a ghostwriter penned it. Honestly, after the brilliance of Winston Graham's earlier Poldark novels, this one just felt off. A real letdown. Definitely not one I'd recommend if you...

Wow!! What a glorious and amazing journey this has been!! From the first book in this Poldark series to the last— twelve installments in all, I remained enraptured and enthralled by the remarkable characters created by Winston Graham. He is a master at weaving stories of love, loss, prosperity, heartache, rivalry, mystery, family, war— I could go on and on.
Centering around the life of Captain Ross Poldark and his beautiful (both inwardly and outwardly) wife, Demelza, the author stirs the read...

I'm a die-hard fan of the Poldark novels, and really everything Winston Graham wrote. I first read 'Ross Poldark' when I was 16 and was hooked from the very beginning. The Cornish countryside is lovingly described, the characters are believable – lovable or hateful – and fully recognizable, even though it's set in the 18th century. So, it's with real dismay that I have to say this book, *Bella Poldark*, was ill-conceived. And unnecessary, too.
Here's my first problem. Bella Poldark is described...

I finally finished the 12th and last book in the Poldark series, Bella Poldark by Winston Graham. If real life hadn't dared to interfere, I probably would've finished long before now. After 12 books, I've grown so attached to these characters that it will be difficult to leave them behind, even though the thought of reading something new and different is a very healing balm. It's a bittersweet feeling as a book reviewer!SPOILERS BELOWBella Poldark focuses on the trials and tribulations of Ross a...

It's not that *Bella Poldark* is just a 5-star book, though it was fantastic. It's that the *Poldark* series as a whole is simply amazing. I started reading it when I was 12. I watched the two seasons on Masterpiece Theatre and was completely hooked. The next time we went to Toronto, I bought all the books with the Masterpiece Theatre covers. I practiced my British accent and completely fell in love with Cornwall. When my parents took us to England when I was around 19, I insisted that we go to ...
