Served Australian army, including war service in the Vietnam War in 1968 - 1969. Came home to public shunning of Vietnam Veterans and discrimination against Vietnam Veterans by potential employers. This resulted in the setting up of the first business, (contract fencing) because I could not get a job. In due course, I...

This author clearly did their homework. Michael G. Kramer has really researched the locations, events, and characters. That's incredible and makes "Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania" feel more authentic and worth reading. The blend of historical events and fiction is skillfully woven into the narrative. The level of detail is amazing. The story almost reads like a historical text suitable for schools, but it's also a captivating read. Definitely a recommended historical fiction book!

A frequently vivid and captivating narrative, blending fact and fiction, centered around a compelling period in history near the close of the Roman Empire. Michael G. Kramer intricately crafts the detail and multi-layered plot elements, creating a gradual build-up that had me engrossed from the start. I wouldn’t call myself a history enthusiast, but I enjoyed "Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania" far more than I anticipated. I think I'll give it another read sometime, and I may very well read mor...

I've always been captivated by the period in which "Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania" is set, and Michael G. Kramer's writing is so detailed that I felt completely immersed in the experiences as I turned each page. A lot of the conflict is pretty gruesome, but it doesn't feel gratuitous at all; it's more a reflection of the violent times and the struggles faced by people back then. It's both highly informative and entertaining, and I get the sense that Michael G. Kramer must have done extensiv...

Whoa! I'm so relieved I finished reading **Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania** because, honestly, I was starting to feel overwhelmed by the bloodshed, the sexual content, and the constant animosity between the ancient Romans and the Germanic peoples. Even though historical fiction isn't usually my go-to genre, I stuck with it because I was genuinely curious. I've always been fascinated by the histories and cultures of Italy and Germany. Even though the narrator tells us right at the start that ...

Michael Kramer's *Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania* is a fascinating, factually grounded exploration of the young Germanic warrior, Armin. His Roman adversaries knew him as Arminius, the man who achieved the seemingly impossible feat of defeating three entire Roman legions. Kramer masterfully blends fiction with historical accuracy, crafting a narrative that's not only gripping and entertaining but also surprisingly educational. Prepare to learn something new while you read! The battle sequenc...

Back in 2017, I made a promise to myself to branch out from my usual thrillers and horror novels. Historical fiction is generally something I avoid, so I decided to give Michael Kramer's 'Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania' a shot. The story is set in 9 AD during the Roman Empire, which felt fitting since I live pretty close to Hadrian's Wall. I'm so happy I stepped outside my comfort zone because this novel is an absolute triumph. Can the actions of one brave man really halt the might of the Ro...

I've really grown to love historical fiction lately, ever since I got completely absorbed by Hillary Mantel's 'Wolf Hall.' My interest in the Roman Empire led me to Michael Kramer's 'Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania,' and what I found was a novel that's just as accurate, well-written, and capable of blending historical facts into a gripping story as Mantel's work. Told from the perspective of an ancient Germanic spirit, we see the aftermath of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, a crushing def...

You can tell a ton of research went into this book right from the start. The level of detail is intense, and Michael G. Kramer sets scenes and describes the era in such a comfortable, natural way. The writing flows well, and the style really suits the story and plot. I’ve read historical novels with much bigger names that didn’t manage this nearly as well. Overall, I found Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania to be an enjoyable read, and I've already recommended it to a friend. Looking forward to ...

If you're a scholar or student of Ancient Rome, and you're captivated by the tales of how the Germanic people halted Roman expansion into Northern Europe, then you'll absolutely devour *Armin: A Novel of Ancient Germania* by Michael G. Kramer. This book recounts the REAL story of Prince Armin of the Cherusci tribe, who initially fought alongside the Romans and immersed himself in their world.
