Fake Professor, Misunderstood As Strong
Synopsis
Imagine waking up in someone else's nightmare. For Jareth Blaze, death was just the beginning. After a particularly gruesome demise, he finds himself reborn, not as a hero, but as a minor, utterly pathetic villain in a role-playing game. Talk about a downgrade!
Now inhabiting a body as weak as it is irritatingly arrogant, Jareth anticipates a swift and ignominious end. Yet, something strange is afoot. Despite his inner turmoil and genuine lack of power, everyone around him seems convinced he's some kind of terrifying mastermind. Fear, not scorn, is what he sees reflected in their eyes.
The protagonist, the supposed "chosen one," shrinks away from his gaze. Powerful mages tremble at his offhand remarks. Jareth, the "Fake Professor, Misunderstood As Strong," is living a bizarre parody of a villain's life. He desperately tries to understand the source of this grand delusion, while simultaneously attempting to avoid accidentally triggering the apocalypse.
This darkly comedic tale explores themes of perception versus reality, the burden of unintended power, and the sheer absurdity of RPG tropes turned on their head. If you enjoy stories where the underdog is actually just confused and terrified, and the "strong" characters are easily fooled, then prepare to be thoroughly entertained. Will Jareth ever escape this charade, or will he become the very monster everyone believes him to be?
