Lots of repetitive over explaining by the guard, would have benefited from some trimming. Typos or forgotten words peppered throughout..

Picking up after the first book, the abuse picks up for our main character. Part to break him down to be a better "pet" but also to prepare him for what is to come. We learn a little more about the world they are in, but the little snippets aren't enough. In the first book I didn't even know it wasn't taking place on earth. So the world building leaves a lot to be desired. I will say, I like when I hear about a new torture device and then need to google it. I've learned a lot reading dark books....

I don't know. The story left a bitter taste in me. It has a plot but also not. It is messy, raw and the storytelling is superficial that it neither grabbed my attention nor interest until the end. Tws, but the story gets better! Jagger and Luke are on the way to the prison now, and Luke finally sees how bad some of the other guards can really be when a criminal who refused to be with a guard was r@ped. It's not super graphic, but you can see how bad the others are. Of course, Luke flips in private, and I thought Jagger didn’t care for a moment, but he explains in a way how their system works: You're either one of them...or you're not. Jagger can get away with protecting Luke to an extent,...
