Manning is an expert at pitting good against evil. I could not put this novel down as it kept me turning pages until the end.

Knights reigned from the 8th to the 16th century, so I assume this book takes place sometime during that time. There was a brief mention of arthritis that didn't fit the time puzzle, but fiction can be embellished, and that's what makes writing and reading a story so much fun. As far as the story went, it had multiple battle scenes and so much family drama. Karma is a B!When you read this book, remember this is not present-day happenings. Way back when they didn't bat an eye when 26-year-olds im...

A great read!

This is the first book I've read from this author and it was well worth the read. The book gives you a great insight into Leon, the Kings second son, and he'll do anything to get what he wants.
The pacing of the book is really good but did find myself losing interest in parts, but that didn't take anything away from the story overall.
Well worth a read and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. Well done.

A great read

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! This book helps give you more insight into Prince Leon and why he acts the way that he does. He's a cunning, intelligent warrior that has all the looks, bravado, and arrogance to back it up. One thing that many soon learn, especially his own family, is that you never cross the Lion unscathed. He's ruthless but also has his own, barely there, moral compass which makes reading about Leon more intriguing. I highly recommend this one!

Very interesting story. I read "Leon the Lion" as my first meeting with the books of the author. And I'll for sure will read the other two books.
I don't have any bad words about the storyline or the characters. Neither of the writing style. I loved the book.

This is my first foray into reading novels about an alternative earth. It was a pleasant surprise as knights sit around smoking cigars but are still up to knightly things - mainly sex and war - in late medieval/renaissance Europe. The story charts prince Leon’s rise to manhood. Beginning the story of him as a child, we get a foretaste of the man from the boy, somewhat selfish, arrogant, a born warrior. He feels betrayed when his elder brother, the king apparent, steals the girl for whom he feels...

Leon the Lion is a side novel that will have you reading until the book is finished and you're left with wanting more. I was enthralled with this one. I have come to really like this author's work, so Leon was not a disappointment one bit.

This is a powerful standalone, and in my opinion, should be read before the author's Jack's Day and Chloe's Purpose. If you're like me, you don't want to miss a thing.

I highly recommend this series!

Wow!

Julie Manning's stories are well written and very interesting.
However I didn't like how Baron Clonessy died, he didn't get a chance to fight his nemesis.
Apart from that Stefan deserves the pain knowing Adelaide Is cheating.
This is without a doubt an interesting and unpredictable story.
I really give the author a round of applause.

Fabulous

This is a fabulous prequel to the previous two books. In this one, we learn why Leon is so vile. Let me ask you this....what is the one thing that can cause two brothers to turn against each other and it's not just a case of sibling rivalry and you'll have your answer. But...there's even more to it than that...This story kept me turning the pages and I finished it in one sitting (family left me alone). Awesome!!

Leon the Lion lives in a world where he can be any kind of royalty he wants; he chooses to be vengeful and a womanizer, so he's not a perfect person. We follow him around as he beheads a few people and participates in wars mostly not of his own making. His brother steals his girlfriend from him at the beginning, and perhaps this colors his experience, but in the end we see him exact revenge for that by doing nothing, and letting the brother live with a woman who clearly had poor judgment. It mov...
