It was a strange one as it’s more like a chapter out of a bigger book. I was left with wanting to know what happens next. Good character development in the brief story. And what’s unfortunate is that feeling cut off, treats as different and gay peoples experiences are still so widespread and prevalent despite positive strides being made. And that despite adversity about why do people still have kindness in their hearts, while others are not able.

A great short story
This was a great start to Finley's story. I felt drawn to him from the very beginning and felt his pain and suffering. It was very well written and am confident that the sequel would be just as well written.

A great short story!
This is a great short story giving you a little more detail regarding Giblets background. If you haven't read The Hunted yet, then you probably should before reading this. I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Fantastic life lessons
Finley's journey is some story, I wish it was longer but I am happy to find out more in it's upcoming sequel. Follow Finley as he is kicked out of his village for being gay. He is so brave to come out, but he doesn't realise the hard part of life is only just beginning. He fights to live his life that can be free of prejudice. I personally think it is horrible to be judged on who you are. Very well written, highly recommend.

An amazing book. When 14 year old Finley is brave enough to admit his sexuality, he is beaten and disowned by those who are supposed to love and protect him. A story of perseverance and bravery by a young man determined to have the life he dreams of and deserves - through honesty and hard work. A powerful and strong read showing the struggles of this young man as he strives to live the life he was born to have.

It was so worth the read, and I loved it! I liked how it shows what teens really need to face when it comes to life. Because there are teenagers who do not know what to expect from life. It is so sad Finlet was kicked out of his own village due to them not approving of his sexuality. Also because of his age. Plus he has all of these job skills that can be quit beneficial. So Finley has such a hard road ahead of him. Well written, and I am going to recommend this book to many people.

I like that this book represented the harsh reality some teenagers have to face. Finley’s family and community wasn't accepting of his homosexuality, and he was kicked out of his village. From there, has to make it on his own, and he meets a boy named Evan who ran away from home because his father beat him up all the time. Evan is jaded, and while Finley wants to hold onto hope that his future might be good and hold things like love, Evan thinks that's dumb. He doesn't care about screwing peopl...

It's a pretty low-down thing for a family to disown a 14-year-old for being gay, but it's surprisingly common, so we have to suspect that Finley's tale is an allegory for real-life dramas. He lives in a cold, corrupt world, but remarkably is able to see the moral issues at stake in his own quest for survival. Very well-written story.

Interesting characters in a prequel short storyThe story starts with Finley realizing about his sexual orientation and how he was not going up be accepted in his village - Taving, because of that. But then his parents also do not accept him for that and thanks to the Priest, his brother and Aeron activities, he leaves the village. Then he meets Evan in another village, uses his carpentry skills and meets an old granny. How does his life change after that point forms part of the short story. The ...

A well-written introduction, a prologue of sorts, to a longer novel that will be about the main character Finley. Thrown out from his village because of his sexual orientation, 14-year-old Finley is forced to fend for himself. Despite his trials, he refuses to give up his humanity and a severe test awaits him when he falls into bad company. The story takes place in an intolerant society where gay relationships, amongst other things one assumes, are frowned upon and treated harshly. It’ll be inte...
