It's never a good combination to be broke and desperate. You do stupid things. Like accidentally signing your soul over to Hell. When I interviewed for a new security job, I didn't bat an eye that it was for a literal graveyard shift... headstones and all. I mean, at the hourly rate they were offer...

Ivy Asher is addicted to chai, swearing, and laughing a lot (but not in a creepy, laughing alone kind of way). She loves the snow, books, and her family of two humans, and three fur-babies. She has worlds and characters just floating around in her head, and she's lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing people who supp...

Prefacing this by saying that I will read ANYTHING that Raven Kennedy writes. I'm obsessed with her Plated Prisoner, Heart Hassle, and Pack of Misfits series--they're all amazing, and they have me working through her backlog. This book was my least favorite by her so far. Usually, I love Raven Kennedy's FMCs. They're always either funny or at least strong and likable. In this book, I thought that Delta was actually pretty annoying. She's "snarky" in a bad way. I love a sassy funny FMC, but Delta...

I've enjoyed books from Ivy Asher and Raven Kennedy, so when I spotted that they had a series out together, it seemed like a no-brainer. My rating of four stars is probably on the generous side - really, this book was like watching a train wreck. On paper, it has a lot of cliches that I don’t typically enjoy, but it was so hard to look away. This book begins with Delta, a down-on-her-luck bartender searching for a new job. She comes across an ad for security of a graveyard that pays well and imme...

(27/07/24) (Doing a reread of this series as initially I stopped after book two. I've now acquired the physicals so I'm now revisiting the series to hopefully complete it.)I loved this book there wasn’t anything here that I didn’t like and from the instant i picked this up I was transfixed and found myself constantly laughing out loud throughout. This has such a vein of humour running through it as well as numerous pop culture references that I totally appreciated. It's the first book in a series...

4 stars
Interesting, fun, and funny read! The only reason it’s not five stars is because the main character was extremely aggravating. Her favorite saying was “It wasn’t my fault”. However I am able to get over that and I will be reading the second book.

2.75Well this is a mixed bag. On one hand I did get some chuckles, and on the other I had a lot of eye rolls. So I will say this-I enjoyed the beginning of the story. I found my self laughing at the quick quippy dialogue and Delta was spouting some serious gems. I also enjoyed her spastic humor and one liners for the most part-But damn- reading the reviews on this book some people were not feeling the crude humor or throwback references. Yikes. Yeah, I agree that some of the stuff Delta says can ...

Down on her luck and needing a new job Delta Gate seeing an add for a security guard with an amazing hourly rate thinks she's hit the jackpot, what she doesn't realise is that the job involves protecting a Gate to Hell- hence the amazing hazard pay and benefits.I was really enjoying this at the start, there were some funny moments but then things kinda got lacklustre/sluggish for me. I wasn't entirely keen on some of the interactions between Delta and the 4 hot demons. The disregard for her safe...

13 REASONS WHY I HATED THIS BOOK ( I won't write 13 of them, 3 will suffice) ---Too much cursing words or unsavory images !! Unnecessarily I don't need every sentence to have the word f**k in it or a variation. One example so you get the gist of it: “It feels like Satan’s asshole out here after he’s had fiery diarrhea. What the fuck?”---There isn't much happening in this book everything is very slow and there is too much description.---At least 70% of this book described the heroine freaking out...

Ok book

The beginning was good then the middle with her oh poor me I can't do anything got so annoying. I had to stop reading cause the book was making want to jump in and slap her. I did eventually get to the end and it does get better. I don't think I am going to read anymore of this series.

2005This book reads like it was written in 2005 by a 40+ woman who thinks that Top Gun was high art, some ‘90’s tv show with Tim Allen was the funniest show they’d ever seen, and Mystikal is the best musician. Everything about the book feels dated and more than a little pathetic. The female character, Delta Gates, is an utter lackwit. If I were to choose a pop cultural reference that describes dim-bulb Delta, she would be Zooey Deschanel at the height of her manic pixie dream girl popularity wit...
