www.2thepointbooks.blogspot.comI must say, I was pleasantly surprised with this debut novel by Nancy Price. If you can get past the bland title, and the confusing beginning pages, this book will reward you with hours of entertainment and rich San Francisco history. A perfect beach read.Time travel is a tricky subject to get right to have it be believable. Price solves the problem and impossibility of physical time travel by having her main character’s psyche travel back and occupy the body of a ...

I won "Dream of Time' by Nancy J. Price through the Giveaways on www.Goodreads.com. Just how many adjectives can one use to sufficiently rate a book? This book was amazing. The rich storytelling drew me in before I had completed the first sentence. Price writes like the weaving of a tapestry ... only this tapestry moves along in time. Any small snaggle or knot in the past, and you start to see ripples and changes in the future: some good, some bad, some insignificant, some major. I have always e...

Dream of TimeNancy J. PriceHistorical Romance/Time Travel4.5 out of 5 StarsEach night, when Robin drifts off to sleep, she finds herself dreaming about the life of a woman in the Victorian age. She soon realizes it’s not a dream at all, but she is truly slipping into San Francisco’s past. While living two lives — one as a mom in the modern day, the other as a proper young lady at the turn of the century — she discovers *how* she’s being sent back to a bygone era is only the first mystery. A much...

I have always been intrigued by stories of time travel. I have often wished that I could time travel, and I love to see what new way of travel has been invented by each author.Ms Price starts the story with a 21st C divorced woman, self-employed, with 2 young children. She lives in Oakland and takes periodic forays into San Francisco. She begins to have odd dreams, and over a few days begins to sense she is entering into another time in San Francisco. I found the first 20% of the book a bit tedi...

This lovely book was one of the most enjoyable reads I've had recently.First of all, I don't think the cover does the book justice. It makes it look intimidatingly serious, and coupled with the long length, this put me off reading it for a while. But once I started it, I was sucked into the fast paced plot and immersed in a beautifully developed world. What sets this apart from many other time travel stories is the way the writer pitches it perfectly between serious SF and light hearted romp. Th...

One sure fire way to get me to read a book is by telling me that it’s a time-travel one. Of course, due to my obsession I’m also sensitive to any title which may be interpreted in such a way. Thus I stumbled upon this little gem on Netgalley (Cheers!).Robin is such an amazing character! She is definitely intense but also courageous, resourceful, and determined. I feel tired just thinking of the things she has to do. Living one life is enough for me but living two lives, Robin is truly a super-wo...

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is well written, with an engrossing story-line and interesting characters. Nancy breaks away from the standard time travel ideas to introduce new and interesting concepts. She writes effectively about the time traveler existing in two different time periods throughout the story and that develops themes and ideas that I haven't seen before. i highly recommend that you read it and believe that you will find it well worthwhile. I hope that Nancy develops the i...

I received a copy of this book as an ARC through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.Time travel has to be one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I don't know what it is, but something about being swept back in time to another era just does it for me. I wanted to love this book, but in the end I just felt like I wasn't able to become as involved with the story, and characters as I would have liked. Some of my problem with the story revolved around Robin. I found her to be a bit flighty, and...

When people ask what genre of books do I prefer I usually have a difficult time giving them a straight answer. Sometimes it depends on the mood I am in, or it may relate to something that is currently going on around me. I love the past and if I find a book that can take me to another place I am usually all in. When I came across Dream of Time by Nancy J. Price the cover was the first thing that caught my attention. What was behind that cover really grabbed me. This is a story of time travel, bu...
