this was the first book i chose to kickstart my 2023 reading list; and having come fresh out of an awesome Lemony Snicket title in December that left me hankering for more whimsy and spell; i realized, i really couldn’t have picked better. The Lost Children of Gloam’s End is a rich, atmospheric story that has been expertly crafted with can’t-put-it-down pacing and filled with all the right kind of haunting artefacts. there are little children and an abandoned orphanage and an eccentric lady who w...

Usually ghost stories are not my cup of tea but I am glad I read this book because it was truly riveting. It was a bit scary at first, but I was hooked and I had to read it until the very end. This haunting story is very well written and thought inducing. The writer’s prose is remarkably poetic. More than once I found myself re-reading many passages because they were so beautiful. I expected a common mystery novel but I was wrong; the story was unlike anything I read before and so it was surpris...

This book is about a little girl called Josie who is trying to solve the mystery of the disappearances of 11 children at Bramstone Hall.

This book is a clever mix of fright, tragedy and wholesomeness. I was so captivated by the story that I even read it in class. You just cannot get enough of it!

I have the full-colour edition, and the photographs were all so beautiful. If you're planning to get this book, you should definitely get the one in colour. Also, how cute are Josie and Clementine?

Omg this is an amazing book. My mom has been showing me this doll maker’s IG and when I knew that “her doll” was going to write a book I was extremely excited. I was thinking, Author Janice is so talented and creative, she can make dolls and write story. The idea of Clementine, her doll, writing this book is refreshing. The description of the ghost was so vividly creepy they gave me good chills😅. I could literally feel someone, [or something] standing behind me each time I read the ghostly part...

SOMEONE MAKE THIS STORY INTO A MOVIE NOW. I'm writing this review in the hopes that someone will! So haunting and imaginative - I keep thinking back on it. I went and got a copy for my 13-year-old niece and she is really enjoying it too - it's been awesome talking about it with her. Gorgeous writing and lots of ghosts - absolutely loved it.

It isn't often I come across a book that makes me want to read it all over again just to really soak up the atmosphere. I can absolutely understand why there are readers saying it should be made into a film. It's so imaginative and written with such detail that I can picture everything. What a gorgeous book, I loved it.

Every so often you find a book that you can’t put down, but also don’t want to finish because you wish it could go on and on. Or at the bare minimum that it’s a series with additional adventures to read. That is exactly how I felt reading this magical book that is equal parts mystery, ghost story and novel. I could hear Josie’s voice, the main character, as I read the story as if she was sitting in front of me. It’s captivating from beginning to end with wonderfully developed characters, a story...

I pretty much never write reviews but I really wanted to for this. I finished it last night and I'm still kinda shaking my head and reeling a bit. I'd actually picked it up on impulse -- it's a debut novel -- but I was fascinated by the art. The summary on the back was interesting but once I got into it I realized this was a dark, dark story, just the way I like it. The pace was just right and the imagination was something else. I can't even compare it to anything else I've ever read, maybe...Co...

Wow, this is honestly one of the best books I've read. It's new, it's by a doll artist, but I love this lady's art and I'd already been reading snippets of her writing on IG over the years, so I couldn't wait to read a full-blown story by her. I wasn't disappointed. It's a novel novel so to speak, with the photos and the miniature art, and it was so imaginative and original. Haunting and moving, I read it with my 10-year-old who loved it too.

OK. I just finished reading this and just HAD to a share a review. The story was unlike any other I've ever read and coupled with the gorgeous artwork and photographs, it was just a wonderful read - I couldn't put it down! The way it unfolded, the way things were described, I could totally visualize everything (the author is a doll artist after all) - I hope it gets made into a movie! Dark and sad and funny and cute, what a tale. Josie and the lost children are just the kinds of characters you w...
