Synopsis

Imagine being reborn into royalty, only to find yourself the least favored son, a pawn in a deadly game of thrones. That's the precarious position Zhao Yao finds himself in within Zhou Liangliang's *Ministers Begging Me to Ascend the Throne*. As the youngest son of Emperor Wu, Zhao Yao understands that survival means playing the long game. He patiently navigates the treacherous court, knowing one wrong move could be his last. His opportunity arrives when he's granted a noble title, but the gesture is far from benevolent. Instead, it's a thinly veiled exile to Lingnan, a region known for its poverty and desolation. But Zhao Yao is no ordinary prince. He embraces the challenge, pouring his energy into transforming Lingnan. Through shrewd planning and a focus on infrastructure and production, he turns his place of exile into a thriving, prosperous territory. He finally finds peace and contentment in his self-made haven. But fate, it seems, has other plans. Just as Zhao Yao settles into his idyllic life, a delegation of ministers arrives, having traveled an impossible distance, with an even more improbable request: they beg him to ascend the throne. Why would these powerful figures seek out the exiled prince? What desperate circumstances could drive them to such lengths? Zhao Yao is left utterly bewildered, and so will you be, as you delve into this tale of unexpected destiny and hard-earned power. Will he answer their call, or remain in his prosperous isolation?
