The only things that should go bump in the night are headboards, not monsters. Leaving my husband was hard. Facing the world alone with my teenage daughter felt like a nightmare, but I caught a break. My best friend hired me for a great job: managing the leasing office of a fancy, exclusive neighbor...

Sometimes I pick up a new-to-me author, and it really pays off, but with Auryn Hadley's Wolf's Bane, that wasn't the case. I enjoy a wide range of genres and writing styles, but this novel was a DNF for me. It's a painfully boring read where, frankly, not much happens. The setup for a reverse harem type of story is pretty obvious, but I never made it far enough to see it unfold, because it was just a total snooze fest. Things I liked: Cover art The main character leaves her husband for a bette...

3.5 stars. Really fun, cute, enjoyable series! It's exactly what you'd expect after reading the blurb. A bit forgettable, to tell you the truth, but the Wolf's Bane series by Auryn Hadley is still really, really relaxing and nice. This paranormal romance is definitely worth a try if you're in the mood for a fast-paced, relaxing series. What's not to like when you have a strong female character and some really hot guys, right?

Spoilers ahead Huh, I'm not sure how I feel about the setup of *Wolf's Bane* by Auryn Hadley. One of the guys recognized her as his fated mate, but as betas don't have their own mate, the Alpha offered to mate her so they could all share her. No special connection, nothing. One of the guys actually said she's at least 10 years older but he'd 'do her' (paraphrasing). This is not what I expect in a reverse harem (RH), especially with wolves, and it's a surprising choice for a paranormal romance r...

Spoilers AheadHonestly, I didn't like a single thing about Auryn Hadley's *Wolf's Bane*. This paranormal romance review is going to be harsh, but hear me out. From the main female character being a total mouse, letting her kid run her life, to the 'best' friend who's using her as an experiment in their werewolf community, and then the guys who just decide to mate with her without even asking because it's 'easier' for them? And the mating itself doesn't even signify anything important, yet someho...

4.5 stars — for the seriesOkay, sooooo I binge-read this one. I might have actually liked Auryn Hadley's *Wolf's Bane* series even more had I not, which is saying something because I really, really liked this paranormal romance series. The romance is pretty slow burn and there is a ton of communication. COMMUNICATION! I always want characters to talk more, and here they finally do! I do think there's a lot of talk outside of the main couple, too, which I personally wouldn't always prefer, but in...

All over againI tried to read Wolf's Bane, but I DNF'd at 50%. I understand Elena well, especially with her ex-husband's machismo and being raised strictly in a Hispanic household. The way a woman is raised is very different from a man's upbringing, and that really showed in Elena's thought process. Her constantly referring to herself as just an old mother was aggravating, but it wasn't off the mark of what she thought was proper for herself. My issue was that her strength only lasted until she ...

AlrightI wanted to give Wolf's Bane 5 stars, I really did. But honestly, I found it truly lacking. The length of Wolf's Bane suggests a lot happens, but in reality, very little does. The first 46% is filled with scattered interactions, some mild build-up, and hints of future events – but mostly, it's just useless, boring fluff. The story is largely 'told' rather than shown, and I found myself skimming far too often. The world-building by Auryn Hadley also felt underdeveloped. We get a vague sense...

Entirely too slowAuryn Hadley's Wolf's Bane is entirely too slow and mundane. Seriously. This book would have been so much better if I'd known it was going to be 'PNR lite'. I went into Wolf's Bane expecting a full-blown paranormal romance, but instead, I got a contemporary romance with just a splash of the paranormal. The premise is that Elena is leaving her husband of 18 years with their 14-year-old daughter, learning to live without him and raise her child. Moving in next door to shifters *shou...

I don't fully know what to say about Wolf's Bane. I struggled to even rate it. On the plus side, it's written well. But that's a given with Auryn Hadley. Lane and Seth are probably my favorite characters, but they didn't have a lot of 'screen time,' so to speak. The story and characters themselves I actually really struggled with. Part of me was tempted to DNF (did not finish) before I even finished the first chapter. I didn't connect with the largest POV characters, especially the FMC (female...
