4.5 Stars!!!Wow, "Wild Dark Shore" by Charlotte McConaghy completely blew me away! I actually started reading it during a slump and had to put it down for a few weeks, but I’m so, so glad I picked it back up when I did!The story follows a family living on an intensely isolated island, and a mysterious woman who washes ashore unexpectedly. Everyone's confused about why she’s there, she’s suspicious of them, they’re suspicious of her, and honestly? I was suspicious of everyone too!I absolutely lov...

I have an urgent need to fix this, but I don't know how. Hmm, let's think about this. Hey, I know! How about you just tell the truth? Ah yes, the dreaded miscommunication trope. Dress it up with some slump-inducing descriptive prose, make every character act as weird and paranoid as possible, throw in some instalove, and you have *Wild Dark Shore* by Charlotte McConaghy. Before I really get into it, I just want to say that my opinion here is decidedly in the minority. I see nothing but love fo...

There’s nothing I can write here that could truly give enough praise or express how much this book meant to me—it might just be the best thing I’ve read all year. It made me scream-cry. It hurt me more than I expected. It shattered me into pieces. It opened up so many old wounds. It made me reflect on the wildness of nature, the fragility of species, the instinct to survive, the future of humanity, broken families, grief, pure love, obsession turning into madness, claustrophobia, guilt, sacrifi...

Okay, seriously, 90% of you must be huffing something strong if you loved this. Even if you strip away all the dull, corny nature stuff... *Wild Dark Shore* is still boring as hell. It couldn't even figure out what it wanted to be! A thriller? Nope. A romance? Ugh, no way. That romance subplot made even less sense than the rest. Climate change commentary? Barely there. We had some rising sea levels and people weirdly obsessed with seeds, but no real environmental message landed. Grief? Possibly....

I don't know, I feel like the hype is a little much for this one. I really wish Goodreads would give us half and quarter stars because this is a true 3.5 stars for me right now. After the death of his wife during childbirth, Dominic moves his family and takes a job as a lighthouse keeper on a remote island near Antarctica. The island is home to a seed vault and research station. The effects of climate change are forcing them to move as the permafrost is melting and it’s no longer safe. While w...

Completely obsessed with this book and also sobbing my eyes out. I don’t think I’ll ever get over Charlotte McConaghy's *Wild Dark Shore*. Seriously, if you're looking for emotional book reviews, prepare yourself.

This was... fine? I honestly don’t get the hype surrounding *Wild Dark Shore* by Charlotte McConaghy. The writing is undeniably lyrical and vividly transports you to the wild, unforgiving landscape of the island; the atmosphere is definitely there. But even with such a strong setting, I couldn’t fully invest in the plot or characters. They felt like fleeting sketches, leaving me feeling like I was trying to survive on scraps. And the lust-driven romance subplot felt so random and out of place. I...

This book just changed my life. I'll be back later with my full thoughts (if I can even put them into words). But until then, I just need to sit and cry for a sec. Charlotte McConaghy's *Wild Dark Shore* has completely wrecked me in the best possible way. Seriously, if you're looking for a powerful and emotional read, add *Wild Dark Shore* to your TBR pile now. Consider this your warning – you might need tissues!
