For me, John Scalzi's books are always funny and entertaining, and "When the Moon is Made of Cheese" is no exception. I had a good time and a few chuckles reading it. It's a great light read if you're looking for funny book reviews. I like the core idea developed here – the moon suddenly turning to cheese – even though I feel like the characters' and the general population's reaction to the events is a little too nice and collected. It's a bit too calm given the circumstances, but I can suspend...

I love cheese, even if it doesn’t always love me back. But after reading **When the Moon is Made of Cheese** by John Scalzi, I suppose I can grudgingly admit that having our Moon suddenly turn into cheese might be a bad idea. I love Scalzi’s humor, the adolescent-style snark, the puns, the entire feel and essence of it that suggests that you can take your overrated maturity and shove it where the moonlight (cheeselight?) don’t shine. Scalzi’s writing tends to make me happy, and I love it. >“Yo...

So, the moon's made of cheese now. We're not sure what kind, but cheese it is! Inside "When the Moon is Made of Cheese" by John Scalzi, we meet people from all walks of life and get a peek into their thoughts and reactions. While "When the Moon is Made of Cheese" is ridiculously silly, it's also poignant, hopeful, thoughtful, funny, and totally gripping at times. Some parts of the book deal with a U.S. government that feels a little too familiar. Another part focuses on a billionaire space jerk...

3 stars - The premise is certainly intriguing: what if the moon REALLY turned into cheese one day?? That completely bonkers idea, along with the cover art, is what drew me to this novel! (Not a spoiler, it’s right there in the blurb.) But I just didn’t click with the storytelling itself. There were SO many characters that it was honestly hard to keep track. And the ending felt super ambiguous, too. I think I understand what John Scalzi was going for with "When the Moon is Made of Cheese" (that i...

This was my first John Scalzi book, and it definitely won't be my last – it was such a fun read! The premise of the moon turning into cheese is admittedly silly, but it blossoms into a genuinely entertaining story that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The unique structure really helped with that. Each chapter follows a different character across the USA, giving you tons of different perspectives on the whole cheesy moon disaster. I especially loved that the author zoomed in on individual ex...

When the Moon is Made of Cheese by John Scalzi: This is a short book, but it's absolutely packed with the kind of craziness you'd expect from a full-length novel! And I mean that in the best way possible. I genuinely enjoyed every single weird thing about it. It's tough to review this without giving too much away. I really want people to experience When the Moon is Made of Cheese fresh, without knowing what's coming. What I *will* tell you is that something totally extraordinary starts happeni...

3.0 StarsThe premise of John Scalzi's *When the Moon is Made of Cheese* is incredibly… cheesy. So I went in with tempered expectations. I've loved books by this author, but others haven't worked for me.Despite the bizarre premise, I was actually surprised to find this one more grounded than his last few publications. This felt more contemplative than I expected. It wasn't the deepest story, but I appreciated the humor being toned down. A nice change of pace!As a piece of science fiction, I don't...

A story about the moon turning to cheese should have been funnier and more interesting. 🧀 It's "Fromageddon" and "Lactocalypse," a childhood nursery rhyme turned reality. The concept was ambitious: each chapter represents a day in the lunar cycle, with mostly different characters in mostly different places across the United States, reacting to the cheesy situation in ways specific to them alone. While this gave us a glimpse of many different people, behaviors, and reactions, I think the constan...

Ever wondered what would happen if the moon spontaneously turned into cheese? If so, you absolutely need to read John Scalzi's *When the Moon is Made of Cheese* because it's an absolute riot. I mean, maybe don't bet the farm on the scientific accuracy – Scalzi cops to his science being “extremely loosey-goosey” in the afterword – but overall, it's a wildly entertaining look at how Americans from every corner of the country might react to such an absurd and unexpected phenomenon. Looking for funn...

This book, John Scalzi's *When the Moon is Made of Cheese*, is absolutely ridiculous and absurd and has no right to be as good as it is. I thought I might laugh at a story about the moon turning to cheese – and I did, more than I expected to – but I didn’t think I’d CRY. Seriously, this book review is coming from a blubbering mess!We all have those off-the-cuff “what would happen if” ideas, but Scalzi has gone and turned one into a book that is fabulous in its complete wackiness. This isn’t real...
