1954: Vixen 03 disappears. This plane, en route to the Pacific, carried thirty-six Doomsday bombs – canisters armed with unimaginably potent, fast-acting germs. It crashed into a frozen Colorado lake. 1988: Dirk Pitt, fresh from raising the Titanic, discovers Vixen 03's wreckage. But two deadly cani...

Okay, so Cussler dials back the pervy stuff a notch in this one, but replaces it with a seriously convoluted plot about a revolution in South Africa. Dirk Pitt cracks the core mystery laid out in the prologue within, like, the first 30 pages. He doesn’t *completely* solve it, but he basically does. The action sequences are awesome when they actually happen, but way too much of the story is bogged down in the endless squabbling between multiple factions of bad guys all vying to take over South Af...

When I'm in the mood for a fast-paced, action-packed read with a blockbuster movie ending, you can't go wrong with Dirk Pitt. Vixen 03 (Dirk Pitt, #5) came out thirty-five years ago, but they're still a total kick-in-the-butt, fun read. Perfect for a quick escape!

This comment applies to pretty much every Dirk Pitt novel:They're a fantastic series, but I had to space out reading them because they're all so alike. Here's a Dirk Pitt book, summed up in under 50 words:(We meet the villain, we meet a gorgeous woman, we meet Dirk, Dirk faces ridiculously dangerous situations to stop the villain, Dirk wins, Dirk gets the girl.)If you're looking for exciting adventure books and love Clive Cussler's writing style, pick up "Vixen 03 (Dirk Pitt, #5)". Just be prepa...

This is hands down the most terrifying thriller I have ever read. If you're looking for a pulse-pounding read, I highly recommend "Vixen 03" by Clive Cussler! For fans of suspenseful book reviews, this one's a must-read.

Skipping book 4 by accident didn't matter at all, and honestly, *Vixen 03* turned out to be way better than the third book, Iceberg. This is a genuinely great story: Dirk starts out chilling with a close female friend at a lake in the backwoods of the USA, then stumbles upon some weird wreckage in her deceased father's garage. This kicks off a wild adventure for Dirk Pitt that takes him all over the place, from Africa to the Potomac River, from lakes to the ocean. He even gets attacked by an old...

Clive Cussler takes everything he did well in his other novels and cranks it up to eleven in *Vixen 03*. It's an action-packed, thrilling ride from start to finish. That being said, I wasn't a huge fan of the sexual content, particularly the gratuitous descriptions of female nudity. It felt a bit out of place and, thankfully, it's something he seemed to move away from in his later *Dirk Pitt* adventures—at least, in the ones I've read so far. Fingers crossed that the rest of my Cussler collectio...

Read this back in the Eighties! Really enjoyed it at the time. If you're looking for a classic adventure, Clive Cussler's *Vixen 03* is a great pick. Definitely a fun book from that era. For fans of Dirk Pitt, this is a must-read!

In the early 1950s, Dr. John Vetterly, a microbiologist, chemically created an artificial life form capable of producing a disease strain. This strain was a non-detectable, unidentifiable bacteriological agent able to incapacitate a living thing within seconds of exposure. It disrupted vital body functions, causing death within three to five minutes. It was named "quick death," or QD. Admiral Bass was tasked with dumping the remaining 36 stainless steel canisters of QD in Rongelo from Buckley Fi...

Classic Cussler at its finest, instantly gripping and captivating no matter how many times you revisit it, even considering how old and somewhat dated the material is (particularly the South Africa sections). When I say 'classic Cussler,' I'm referring to Clive (and Dirk Pitt) at their old-school, violent, bloody, profane, and sexually explicit peak, not the toned-down, PG-rated stuff (though still highly enjoyable) he's been writing since the early 1990s (starting with 'Dragon'). This is a must...
