In a Nutshell: Officially a mystery novel, but really, it's more of a comic drama with some dark moments. The geriatric main character is interesting but also infuriating. The plot is relatively thin, and it leans into the influencer trope, which is never my favorite. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a lighthearted entertainer and not a serious mystery. This is the second book in the Vera Wong series. It can be read as a standalone, but it's better to read them in order. It was decent enou...

The delightfully quirky and witty Vera Wong is back with her friends for another rollercoaster of a ride, and I couldn’t put it down! Vera just cracks me up! 🤣
This is the second book in the Vera Wong series, and this time, Vera has found another body in her tea shop. Xander Lin, an influencer, apparently jumped off a bridge. He was incredibly popular, so why would he jump?
While Vera’s snooping lands her in more trouble than Nelly – she even gets death threats! – Vera ignores it all and won'...

Vera takes on human traffickers. This second book in the Vera Wong series has a different tone to it than the first, as Vera herself has been changed by the previous events.Sometimes, when authors soften a crotchety protagonist, it takes away from the fun of the story. But here it just feels like a natural progression of the character's personal journey.Vera is still Vera, but she's taken what she's learned about what it takes to have people in your life and is actively trying to soften her edges...

4/5 ⭐️ I missed Vera so much! This book felt so comforting and touching, like slipping into a warm bath. I absolutely loved the relationships that Vera formed with the other characters. The found family aspect of "Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth" was so incredibly sweet! While the mystery itself wasn’t quite as gripping as the first book, I still thoroughly enjoyed it! If you're looking for a cozy mystery with a heartwarming story, definitely check out Jesse Q. Sutanto's "Vera Wong's Guid...

Vera Wong is back! And she's better than ever. Ever since a dead body showed up in her tea shop, life's been pretty good for Vera. She's an accomplished "investigator", her shop is thriving, and her son Tilly has a girlfriend—none other than Selena, the detective we met in the first book. Still, Vera's a little bored and craving another case to solve… maybe another dead body will turn up so she can put her skills to work? One can only hope. Vera doesn’t find another dead body in her shop, but sh...

Jesse Q. Sutanto has done it again, delivering a funny and heartwarming cozy mystery with a thought-provoking and surprisingly serious edge. Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth, the second book in the Vera Wong series, is another thoroughly entertaining read.Ever since Vera solved a murder in her teahouse, life has been pretty good. She's surrounded by loved ones, her shop is thriving, and her son, Tilly, is dating Officer Selena Gray. But Vera's starting to get bored and misses the excitemen...

4.5 ⭐️ Back in 2023, I spilled the tea on *Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth*.See my original review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...So, is this sequel as hilarious as the first book?Well, YES – for the most part! Honestly, I think the first half of *Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth* might be EVEN FUNNIER than the first book. There are SO MANY laugh-out-loud moments, largely because Vera's first language is Mandarin, so sometimes things get hilariously lost in translatio...

Oh, Vera, you're simply the best! Just my opinion, but nothing can quite top the first book. That being said, Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth was SO much fun. Definitely wait for the audiobook because Eunice Wong's narration is perfection! If you're looking for a cozy mystery, Jesse Q. Sutanto's Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth is a must-read (or listen!).

Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth is the second book in the Vera Wong series. I absolutely adored the first book when I read it back in 2023.At the time, I was expecting it to be a standalone novel, so I was beyond thrilled when I found out we'd be getting more with the indomitable Vera Wong and her friends. This novel brings a new mystery for Vera to investigate, along with a whole new cast of side characters. We still see all her old friends, but she makes some great new ones here too.The ...

I think the best part of the Vera Wong stories is the pure humanity in them. You get pretty interwoven stories about the human experience and its troubles (specifically the immigrant experience), and it’s extremely relatable while also having heartwarming/hilarious Vera at the core of it.
That being said, "Vera Wong's Guide to Finding the Truth" was definitely darker than the first one!! Tread carefully and check the trigger warnings :)
