Jake always dismissed urban legends—until one became his reality. This isn't a story he heard; it happened to him. He's recorded it as best he can. Believe it or not, the choice is yours. *Trespass* blends gritty modern action with a sweeping adventure through time. The Darkeningstone, discovered m...

I've been meaning to check out Mikey Campling's work for a while now, but *Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)* is the first of his books I've finally gotten around to reading. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the writing and editing are up to scratch and pretty good for an indie release, although I did spot a few minor issues with the internal formatting. It's just that the story isn't the kind I find interesting, and rather than the “tale of supernatural suspense” ...

Intrigue and Suspense galore! The story of *Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)* begins to unravel bit by bit, cleverly connecting the characters within the mystery surrounding the Darkeningstone. I confess, I'm completely hooked on the origins, the whys, and the true meaning of the stone. I felt totally compelled to devour *Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)* in one sitting so I can dive straight into the next book in the series! A must-read for anyone looking for a suspenseful fantasy novel by Mi...

Seriously? Why? Why end it on a cliffhanger? I absolutely loathe them. Grrrr. Putting that aside, I genuinely loved this story. I really enjoyed the way Mikey Campling weaved together the past and present timelines. The concept of the magic darkeningstone in *Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)* is fascinating. I found the writing style to be incredibly clear and easy to follow, and I absolutely, positively loved the Monty Python reference. I'm left with just one burning question after reading *Tr...

I'm genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed *Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)*. I usually stick to sci-fi novels with aliens, plasma blasters, space travel, and weapons galore. While *Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)* doesn't have any time travel, the story spans from 3,500 BC to 1939 and 2010. A mysterious Black Stone, with edges, corners, and a polished surface so perfect, it couldn't possibly be man-made or natural. The surface is incredibly smooth, and the material is so pure that some p...

Somewhere, sometime, the stone is waiting. The premise of *Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)* is genuinely interesting. A mysterious stone exists outside of the space-time continuum and wreaks havoc on three different timelines. The book ends on a cliff-hanger, but unfortunately, I just didn’t connect with Jake enough throughout the book to feel any real frustration about the story having no proper conclusion. I found the Jake character kind of boring, and his apparent cowardly behavior to be fr...

Mikey Campling might just be my new favorite author.*Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)* is a story spanning 5000 years, in three different time periods. A hermit guards a precious stone slab that seems to have an entire world within it. A young boy discovers the stone and grows mesmerized by it enough to risk running into the local gang of bullies, repeatedly. Even after being attacked. An old man remembers an old friend and a frightening experience at that very stone. The driving theme is delici...

I found "Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)" so incredibly intriguing and well-written that I just couldn't put it down. I don't often have a lot of time to read, so it usually takes me a few months to finish a novel. But I read "Trespass (The Darkeningstone, #1)" from cover to cover in just five days because I was completely hooked! Mikey Campling's writing style is accessible, and the story flowed beautifully from chapter to chapter. The character development is strong, and I could really empat...

Mystery, history, and science fiction all get thrown into a fascinating story that stretches across thousands of years. I'm really into all the characters, but I think the ones I like best are the people looking after the Darkeningstone five thousand years ago. They're a really interesting take on how early humans might have seen strange and confusing objects. That stone definitely stays a puzzle, right up to today. Is it an alien thing? Some kind of wormhole? Maybe a time travel doorway? All th...

"Trespass" jumps between different time periods to tell the story of a mysterious stone discovered in a quarry. Set against a modern backdrop, 1939, and even as far back as 3500 BC, "Trespass" weaves together the interconnected stories of three individuals who encounter the Darkeningstone. It's a captivating read, perfect for anyone looking for engrossing book reviews.
I have to admit, the modern-day segment didn't quite grab me as much as the other timelines. The character of Jake is well-writ...
