The premise of traveling back in time to the Biblical New Testament era really piqued my interest. "Transgression (City of God, #1)" definitely pulled me in at first, but around the halfway mark, I started to lose steam. I think I was hoping for something more substantial. I was disappointed that the book didn't offer much resolution to the questions it raised about Christianity. Personally, I'm not a fan of the heavy emphasis many place on Paul as the central figure of Christianity, and the ide...

What an unexpected find! Once I started reading "Transgression (City of God, #1)", I saw some reviews calling it religious Sci-Fi. I didn't even know that was a genre, and I'm not sure I'd normally go for it. But while "Transgression (City of God, #1)" technically falls into the Sci-Fi category, I'd classify it more as a historical novel. We're talking about real locations and real people here. The religious component is very important to the characters, but for me, it's primarily educational. A...

As someone who's not usually into science fiction fantasy, "Transgression (City of God, #1)" by Randall Ingermanson really surprised me. When I realized it involved wormhole travel, I just assumed it would be pure nonsense. Huge shock – I found it incredibly engaging and was hooked almost immediately. Now that I've finished it, I'm already diving into the second book in the series. It would have been a real shame to miss out on this one just because of my genre biases. Randall Ingermanson master...

I absolutely loved "Transgression (City of God, #1)". It's a fantastic story packed with time travel, suspense, and drama. What a great read!I haven't read many books that delve into the world of Jewish people, and I'll admit my knowledge of Jewish culture is pretty limited beyond what I've learned from the Bible. That being said, that was one of the main reasons I was so hooked! "Transgression (City of God, #1)" beautifully weaves together Jewish and Christian beliefs, showing how they intertwi...

Read all my reviews on http://urlphantomhive.booklikes.comI downloaded "Transgression (City of God, #1)" as a freebie from Amazon because I'm a sucker for time travel stories. Honestly, I didn't really know much else about the book going in. My advice? Skip the full blurb – it gives way too much of the plot away. So, we've got Rivka, an American archaeologist (and apparently a whiz with ancient languages), who stumbles upon Ari and his time travel gadget. Next thing she knows, she's stuck in Jeru...

Time for another Time Travel novel After finding Transgression (City of God, #1) by Randall Ingermanson (and its two sequels) on Amazon for practically nothing, I downloaded all three. I hadn’t realized these books were classified as “Religious Sci-Fi,” and another Goodreads member warned me off the genre. Are they really that bad? Will religion be shoved down my throat? Will the Seventh Day Adventists discover I downloaded the books and come knocking? Will a swarm of locusts devour my prize-wi...

I haven't enjoyed a book this much in ages. Seriously, I was hooked! The premise—time travel to take out Paul the Apostle—grabbed me right away, but Randall Ingermanson's fantastic writing and the relatable, realistic characters are what kept me glued to the page. It's almost impossible not to fall in love with them (well, I did, anyway!).I thought *Transgression (City of God, #1)* had a killer blend of science fiction, adventure, drama, romance, and even some laugh-out-loud moments. Putting it d...

A physicist builds a wormhole to first-century Israel and sets out to assassinate the apostle Paul, hoping to stop Christianity from ever taking hold. Rivkah, a messianic Jew, tries to stop him, aided by the physicist's partner, Ari. It's a thrilling concept, and I couldn't wait to dive into "Transgression (City of God, #1)" by Randall Ingermanson.I'm a sucker for time travel stories, and they're pretty rare in Christian fiction, so "Transgression (City of God, #1)" immediately caught my eye. An...

I devoured "Transgression" in 18 days flat! I'm completely hooked on this series. As the first book in the "City of God" trilogy, it made me deeply re-examine my faith, questioning the very core of my beliefs. Then, BAM! It throws in time travel and makes it utterly believable. Honestly, there's so much packed into this book, I hardly know where to begin this review. Here's what Randall Ingermanson, the author, says it's about: "Transgression" is a time-travel suspense novel that mixes science...

I'm still waiting to read a book by Randall Ingermanson that I *don't* like, and *Transgression* is no exception. In *Transgression*, a physicist travels back in time to murder the apostle Paul. An archaeologist chases after him to stop him, and another physicist follows because he's in love with the archaeologist. The book masterfully weaves elements of physics into a historical suspense thriller set in Israel, both in the present day and two thousand years ago.*Transgression* avoids all predic...
